Amazon.co.uk Review
This is the MOBO-award winning album that put this UK soul star on the map. With his matinée idol looks, laid-back urban groove and sophisticated songwriting, he represented a renewal in British soul. Saucy songs like "Sexy Cinderella" and "Medicine 4 My Pain" became live stormers, particularly with female fans, proving that Hall (as he sings in "Do I Qualify?") is "the man in your wo-man-hood". Hall veers to a certain rhythm, weaving bluesy influences and a Southern soul vibe into his catchy hooklines. One of his main strengths is his lyrics, whether he's being spurned by a tough woman in "One Hundred Heart Attacks", or living the everyday reality of racism in "Livin¹ The Lie", or celebrating love on "Yellow In Blue". "We're making a green like they've never seen", he sings with quirky simplicity. --Lucy O'Brien

Finally a neo classical soul singer out of the UK
Finally a neo classical soul singer out of the uk. Someone with a gritter voice not cleaned up to the point of boring. A singer who offer you something other than the stuido pop mix. A mix that turns everything red blue and green to tan, because tan sells. A singer who knows his audience and knows that all music isnt for everyone. And he ups and dies on me just when I have found a UK R&B singer who is real. Let's hope there are more out there. Just waiting to be discovered.
We will miss you
A must have for your collection, let us recognise one of the best British Soul artists, Lynden David Hall you will be so sorely missed and hope you're making them all smile there in Heaven. May you rest in peace.
Lovely
In this day and age, there are not too many album where by you can let play, and whilst every track might not be a winner, the album itself is just SO good. This is such an album. I intially brought this Album on the strength of the first single,'Sexy Cinderella'. And to be honest I didn't like this CD on first hearing. But it's a grower. I would recommend that you give yourself a week or two to listen to this. It is worth the time and effort. Also the subject matter varies from a weird love triangle (The Jimmy Lee story,), social injustice (Livin the Lie). My favourites cuts are, the aforementioned Sexy Cinderella, I wish I knew, and Yellow in Blue, which is a beautiful song. Enjoy!
I meant to give this four stars. Excuse the mishap!
