Amazon.co.uk Review
Labelled Ireland's Spice Girls, B*Witched's self-titled debut album mixes snatches of Irish jigs and the girls' mellow Celtic warbles with contemporary hip hop and funk influences. Their first hit "C'est La Vie" opens the album and sets the scene with its catchy chorus and jaunty melody. Their follow-up single, "Rollercoaster", is included, along with other fun and contagious tracks such as "Rev It Up" and "Freak Out". Disney soundtrack-style ballads such as "Castles In The Air" and "Oh Mr Postman" are also interspersed throughout. Guaranteed 100 per cent Irish charm with this album. --John Galilee
CD Description
Sinead, Lindsay and twin sisters Edele and Keavy make up the bubbly Irish pop group B*Witched. Hailing from Dublin, thegirls exercise an irresistible brand of popcraft reminiscent of England's Spice Girls--these teens display youth, charm, soul and sweetness that can charm even the most resolute curmudgeon. Let's face it-they're just downright cute. The contagious single "C'est La Vie" offers an exuberance that's all about being joyful and young at heart. The girls' flirtatious warbles fly over funky guitar, slippery turntable scratches, cheerful keyboard chords and a thumping beat that culminate in a soaring fiddle jig, giving the music a modern buoyancy with a touch of traditional flavour. This is the kind of contagious fun that charts across oceans.

An album ahead of it's time... surprisingly!
Yep a laughing stock they may be now but truth be told this album and B Witched themselves were infinitely better than some of the tosh clogging up the charts at the moment!
At the time this was just another pop album which once it became 'uncool' to like the group got forgotten and it was only a quick listen I gave it the other day that showed me this album was actually way ahead of it's time!
I mean you only have to listen to the introduction for drum and bass meets irish violin jigging genius, they were also one of the first girl groups to do the whole rock-chick thing in 'We Four Girls' and many other tracks here have been slightly imitated.
Apart from that these are actually well written, enjoyable pop songs. The likes of 'Rollercoaster', 'Blame It On The Weatherman' and 'Like A Rose' are all catchy and just overall great tunes.
Whereas today pop groups have to be credible to be successful and if they release a fun song like B-Witched's - they always have rubbish production. B-Witched had fun, uncredible songs and great production!
Go on, hunt this album down - even if in secret because this a pop album that is sadly overlooked as the 'cool factor' has sizzled out...
What an album!
B*Witched are at the fore-front of girl band mania at the moment and it's easy to see why. Their debut album shows us that not all girl groups are Spice Girl clones and that there is some individuality out there. Their blend of energetic pop and traditional Irish music create an album that's garanteed to inspire you. Their first four UK singles are on the album but all the other tracks are sure-fire hits. They show a great talent in all types of music from rock and pop to Irish folk. If you liked "C'est La Vie" you'll love the other tracks on the album but 'Irish hip-hop pop', as they call it, isn't the only type of music on the album. Their are also some very nice ballads. Edele's lead vocals on "Castles In The Air" and "Like The Rose" sent shivers down my spine the first time I heard them. Whatever your musical preference, "B*Witched" is garenteed to get you jigging and singing along. Play it loud! "We four girls are here to stay!"
Just buy it
Love this album,a great one to play in summer with window down.i have always liked B*WITCHED,a bit forgotten now,but a tv music channel is playing all the number ones from the 90's,they are on to 1998/99 now.this girl group had 4 number ones in a row, just how good is that?they should have been much bigger than this,a band some people either never heard of or choose to forget.i say just buy this album, you will be suprised and enjoy the tracks.
