Customer Reviews
Where are the Band Names?!
A decent enough collection of funk - some great, some average.
There is one overwhelmingly irritating issue with release however - there are no band names!
Come on guys. Yes, you deserve credit for finding these tracks and putting them out there, but to not include the names of the people who actually wrote and produced the music whilst your names are plastered all over the record is self-indulgent and disrespectful.
I've got loads of collections like this and almost all of them have a section explaining the curator's choices, putting them in historical and geographical context, then a short blurb on each band and the track.
This collection has nothing like that, and the whole release suffers as a result.
a complete scorcher...a must for any funk fan.
Keb Darge has done it again. Those of you familliar with his "Legendary Deep Funk" series will understand what that means. But Josh Davis (aka DJ Shadow) owns the better half of this cd. With the rarest of rare funk cuts, this cd doesn't stop burning through all twenty tracks. The funk is nastier, and harder than anything you else you could find. I was lucky enough to be at the release party of this cd at Bar Rhumba in London, and it simply blew my mind. Get this cd, you won't regret it.
