After leaving the enormously popular Spice Girls in May, 1998, Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice) re-emerged and reinvented herself with SCHIZOPHONIC. The album is based on her experiences over the past year and shows a maturing Geri displaying"woman power" over "girl power". "Look At Me" is bombastic pop a la "Livin La Vida Loca", with a bossa nova feel to it that would fit perfectly on an Austin Powers soundtrack. "Lift Me Up" has a Spice-ish quality and features smooth multi-layered harmonies.
"Walkaway", a wistful, well-orchestrated ballad, showcases Geri's fine vocal talents and is an obvious reference to her departure from the top female group onthe planet. The remainder of the album employs a variety ofstyles, as evidenced by the Latin-inflected "Mi Chico Latino". SCHIZOPHONIC is tightly produced and features magnificent musicianship. Spice fans as well as pop connoisseurs should buy this album immediately.

Editorial Reviews
Amazon.co.uk Review
While hardly a masterpiece on the order of "Say You'll Be There", the former Ginger Spice's step into the solo arena does an acceptable job of refashioning her into a "grownup" diva. Generally underdeveloped material doesn't help but the thin-voiced Halliwell acquits herself well enough on some pop-funk numbers and when tweaking the sort of 60s high camp of which Robbie Williams is so fond--especially on saucy single "Look At Me". --Rickey Wright

Geri's best album
Geri Halliwell's solo debut is the strongest of the whole Spice Girls solo albums.
She continues her Spice vibe throughout all the tracks and proves that really she could have done everything on her own from the word go.
Yeah, but no, but yeah..... but NO, NO, NO!
I ordered this for a friend... FOR A JOKE (oh, how we laughed!) Well, at £1.25 - including postage - it gave a temporary buzz for less than the price of a Starbucks.
Look At Me and Bag It Up are kind of half-arsed fun in a semi self-ironic way, and the terrible, strained vocals on Lift Me Up (a song with a very undemanding "range" to begin with) are, as no doubt even someone like Jodie Marsh might sagely observe, "Comedy"(!!!!!) And as for Mi Cheeeko Lateeeeno [actual translation: "My Hertfordshire Geezer"]... do us a favour, Geri, girl - your mum's Spanish. Could you not have asked her to demonstrate the pronunciation?
It's impossible to dislike Geri. She does mean well, so by all means put this on when you tire of filet mignon and you fancy a (vege)burger instead.
Surprisingly good!
I have to be honest I only got this album, as part of a huge Spice Girls collection and this album was most definitely NOT the reason I bought it. I was therefore pleasantly surprised when I listened to it and discovered that it was a rather good album. Geri's vocal talent is clearly limited, however she has made the best of it in this charming album:
1.Look At Me- What an opener; shouty, powerful and very catchy. 8/10
2.Lift Me Up- The highlight of the album for me, an amazing track. 10/10
3.Walkaway- A very typical ballad, unimpressive. 6/10
4.Mi Chico Latino- The type of song Geri does best. 9/10
5.Goodnight Kiss- An excellent concept for a song, sung well. 9/10
6.Sometime- Quirky, uptempo pop song, another of my favourites. 10/10
7.Let Me Love You- Again quirky, but not as strong as some other tracks. 7/10
8.Someone's Watching Over Me- A rather typical ballad again, but there is something endearing about this one. 8/10
9.You're In A Bubble- You are not expecting this track then it hits you. 7/10
10.Bag It Up- Geri starts and finishes the album on a bang. Very good! 9/10
I would advise buying this album if you like good pop music.
