Product Description

Released as part of a two-volume live set, THE WAY WE WALK,VOL. 1 was recorded during the band's 1992 world tour. Having started out as an over-the-top, theatrical art-rock band,Genesis had become a tireless pop machine by the early '90s. THE SHORTS represents the facet of the band that enabled Genesis to score 16 Top 40 hits in a 12-year span.
The oldest songs on this collection are "That's All" and "Mama", a pair of songs from the band's 1983 self-titled album. The rest of the set is divided between hits from 1986's INVISIBLE TOUCH and WE CAN'T DANCE, the album Genesis was touring behind at the time. The resulting mix is of upbeat numbers ("Land of Confusion"), hopelessly romantic ballads ("In Too Deep", "Throwing It All Away"), and more adult-themed material dealing with father-son splits ("No Son of Mine") and the hypocrisy of televangelists ("Jesus He Knows Me").

Customer Reviews

Nothing beats Genesis live5
I originally bought this album as a pirated MC in 1993 in Poland on a scout trip (I'm a geek, I know), and at the age of 13 this was my first introduction to Genesis, and needless to say I loved it.

I have later bought a Genesis Greatest Hits cd, but I never ever listen to it, instead I listen this.

This cd is all about live atmosphere, and how much of an impact the crowd can have on the music.....and the music on the crowd. Its pure emotion both ways, and even people who normally don't like Genesis (like myself) will like this cd, and for everyone the least bit into Genesis this cd is a must-have-

The BEST Live album you will ever hear!5
Even though it may seem like a biased remark, considering Genesis has always been my personal favourite Rock Band, this is indeed the most definitive live act ever released.

The 'Way We Walk' tour was something I missed; Fortunately though, I can really get an idea of the atmosphere spreading through the concert arena as I listen to each track, one after the other. Each song is worth listening to and although some are slightly better than others, as with every album, there is a mass range of genres included throughout the two discs. Whether its the meaningful thoughts of the world we live in; (Land of Confusion), the humorous response to every-day topics; (Jesus He Knows Me), heart-felt classics; (In Too Deep, Hold on my Heart), or the whole musical and lyrical experience in their 'Longs'; (The Old Medley, Domino, Home By The Sea), Genesis offer one of their most amazing performances.
Each track has something special to add to the collection; What's more, is that every song is performed to a top-notch standard - a complete performance from one of the greatest bands to ever exist.

This is the best album in my collection.

Too good to miss5
This has got to be one of the best CD's i have in my collection. The tracks in these CD'are live versions and sound so much better than studio recordings. I went to see Genesis in July 1992 and they played most of these tracks at that concert.I think Phil Collins is a great solo artist but was much better with Genesis and i think that shows on this set of tracks. This CD is not to be missed if you are a fan of live rock.
