Though she was first signed onto Dr. Dre's Interscope-funded Aftermath Entertainment, her deal expired before she was able to release an album. After working on posse cuts and guest appearances with Ruff Ryders, Blackstreet, DJ Clue, and the Roots among others, she released this album for Ruff Ryders/Interscope.
The killer beats provided by producer Swizz Beatz, along with Eve's straight hardcore flow makeFIRST LADY one of the most complete debut hip-hop albums inrecent memory. "What You Want", which was first heard on the Ruff Ryders compilation album, had been burning up urban radio stations for months at the time of this album's release. Great But Could Have Offered Alot More
This album is one for buying though it isnt one to be remembered as a classic. it has some good tracks on it RnB wise "I Gotta Man" "Love is blind" and "Heven only knows" but hip-hop wise i was a bit dissapointed as only "Scenario" with DMX attracted me.

This album is da bomb a must for any Hardcore Ruff Ryder fans The album has some real hard core rap on And apperances from atistis such as DMX, DRAG-ON, The Lox. It also has some real touching songs Like Love is blind - a very powerful message in that song & Heaven Only knows - a song about Eves life so far ! A must buy 4 any Rap Fan ! Kris
