First but not the best3
Runrig's "first legendary recordings" are now more relevant for their historical significance - as the ground-breaking first fusion of the Gaelic tradition with modern music styles and technology - than for their musical merit. It might have been revolutionary at the time but it sounds very tame now and, with no Malcolm Jones or Iain Bayne, it's fairly unrepresentative of what was to come. There are some lovely songs here and it's well worth owning, but for a first Runrig experience I'd urge something more recent.

A gentle diving into Gaelic Seventies3
Released in 1978, this first Runrig album it's a time machine - taking you back to the kind of eeried folk-rock atmospheres styled by musicians like Simon and Garfunkel or America all along the Sixties and Seventies. A special mention for the energetic "Duisg mo Run" and "Tillidh" and for the set of ballads "Sunndach", "An Ros" and "Chi mi'n Geamhradh". Not exactly what I expected. It's a pleasant, fine-sounding, relaxing listening that still retains the original freshness - but if you love celtic music taking root in your soul, you should navigate other waters.

One of the Best.5
This is Runrig's first album and in many respects their best. As a Gaidhlig speaker myself its great to see an all-Gaidhlic album come out which has a more lively modern twist to it. Most of the songs on the album were written by Calum himself and its' good to see original songwriting in the Gaidhlig tongue. Ceól an Dannsa, Air an Traigh, and Dé Ní Mi are my personal favourites from an album of quality songs. If you're a Runrig fan and don't have this album, then go and get it. If you're thinking of getting into the band, get this first. Their early stuff is unsurpassed.
