Amazon.co.uk Review
This is the only Howard Jones album you'll ever need. HoJo was a founder of early 1980s synth-pop, which was as easy to sing to as it was to dance to. The rhythms on this record pop like new wave corn kernels in heated oil, tempered by Jones's high-strung vocals extending over the top. Jones makes good use of the bright synth piano patches available during that time, especially during "Things Can Only Get Better". "No One Is to Blame" is a solid ballad, just Jones and his keyboard. It's heartfelt and regretful--a little cheesy, but in a good way. --Beth Bessmer
CD Description
Although for fans of unpretentiously catchy commercial pop,all of Howard Jones' albums are worth owning, THE BEST OF HOWARD JONES is both a fine introduction and a worthy samplerof the best work of this underrated artist. Presented as a chirpy one-man electro-pop band on his 1984 debut HUMAN'S LIB (represented here by "New Song", "Pearl in the Shell" and "What Is Love?"), Jones quickly grew into his own. Less annoying than Phil Collins and less full of himself than George Michael, Jones' mid-to-late-'80s string of hit singles--including "Things Can Only Get Better", "You Know I Love You...Don't You?" and the exhilarating "Everlasting Love"--stacks up against them both when it comes to smart hooks, smooth production and general unforgettablility. This 18-track compilation also includes a handful of new tracks, including a terrific and surprising cover of Donald Fagen's post-Steely Dan hit "IGY (What A Beautiful World)".

Back in the 80's
Excellent - what a way to remember the decade and one of its strangest yet strangely influential artists.
HJ made Synth-type music slower...and it worked. Whats more, some of his lyrics (that I didn't pay much attention to originally) are actually very good.
Thoroughly enjoyed it. It's an occasional long drive play more than anything else, but its worth the blast from the past alone.
Just pure brilliance!
This album had my memories of the 80's flooding back. Howard Jones is *the* master on the keyboard, playing some of the catchious melodies known to man. How can anyone forget classics such as 'New Song', 'What Is Love?', 'Like To Get Know You Well' and 'Look Mama'! This album is worth every penny, go and buy it.
A great album from a talented singer and performer
This album will bring all those memories of the 80s flooding back to you in one easy swoop. A genius on the keyboard, Howard Jones' hits on this album just keep coming one after another. Favourite of the album is Like To Get To Know You Well as it gives a feeling of togetherness and tenderness. These songs tend to uplift you and will bring you out from a bad mood especially tracks such as Life In One Day and New Song. All Howard Jones fans should have this in their collection!
