CD Description
Uber-producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis come aboard for this hip-hop diva's third album, but they don't take over the way they do with more impressionable singers. SHARE MY WORLDremains very much Mary J. Blige's album, featuring 17 tracks worth of the same bumpin' soul that has made her one of the premier singers of the '90s. Blige earned the title "queenof hip-hop soul" with her amazing blend of hip-hop beats and R&B vocals on her debut album, WHAT'S THE 411?, and then followed up with the equally strong MY LIFE, which showed offa more personal side. On SHARE MY WORLD, she invites you toshare a world of true success.
When Blige sings, whetherit be a ballad or a hip-hop track, she sings from the heart, both to and for her audience. Collaborating with R. Kelly,Nas, Lil' Kim, Bryce Wilson of Groove Theory and many more, she once again offers the best new music in her genre. It doesn't get better than this.

Customer Reviews

A Stunning Album5
Marys third offering is superb from start to finish. Her voice still sounds fantastic as ever. This album is essentilly about love. It has tracks that are great to listen to after a break up or meeting someone new. The thing is with Mary you know she has been there, and when she sings it she means it. There are many guesst appearances on this. But it just adds to its brilliance. Round and Round is really funky with hard beats, and still sounds fresh today. The duet with R.Kelly Its On, is super sexy. Her vesion of Everything is one of the most beautiful songs i have heard. Not gonna Cry is sung deep from the heart and shows her pain. Mary wears her heart on her sleave and it shows in her music. She is a soul legend.

Excellent5
One of the best CD's to have in your collection, listen to it when you have friends round, dinner, lunch or let it play when you are going off to sleep. wonderful!

NOT MY LIFE II!3
Released three years after the then career high of My Life, Share My World sees Mary ditch the producers that made her a star (Puffy, Chucky) and start to work with Jimmy Jam /Terry Lewis and Rodney Jerkins (before he sold all artistic credibility). Overall, this was a bad move, seeing Mary regress to the rap sound of What's The 411?, and uncomfortably mix it with the overproduced slick soul/R&B that My Life avoided. Her voice still contains all the emotion of it's predecessor, but is of little use without any tunes to speak of. Gone are the beautiful melodies of Changes..., I'm Going Down and I Love You. There's nothing unpleasant or unlistenable here (Everything and Missing You still sound quite nice), but there is no track that bites you in the way I Don't Want To Do Anything, What's The 411 or My Life did. An average effort.
