An oustanding debut album !4
Whilst most bands were doing the Rap/Rock speed grunge Hip Hop crossover thing Dub War emerged with an exceptional debut album. Dub War fused together the styles of reggae and rock, threw in a few funk influences and emerged with their own ragamuffin style of riotous rock n roll.
The manic opening tracks of 'Why' and 'Mental' pave the way for the more superior songs, the beautifully constructed 'Respected', 'Pain' and 'Nations' show that Dub War are more than just another metal band. In fact with Benji's fantastic singing voice they have created a new genre called Raggerock. The most commercial track here and also a single, is 'Strike it'. The track is very catchy but can be annoying when you get to know the song too well. This song though was my introduction to the band, along with another track 'Spiritual Warfare' which were on a promo tape sent to me from Earache, yes Earache the label of Napalm Death, Carcass, Entombed and Bolthrower.
It doesn't all have to 100mph you know.

If I had to pick the worst song if would have to be the last track 'over now', just because it signals the end of the album.

So grab your hairbrush, find your air drumsticks and prepare yourself for the finest raggarock album money can buy.

Jivehard!
