Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
Compiled just as earthy, reggae-tinged jungle was starting to give way to the more cerebral drum and bass movement, this is the sound of an innovative record label--drum and bass star LTJ Bukem's Good Looking--at its peak. The approach to the music is austere and sometimes more than a little scientific, but at their best the results are anything but sterile. Standout tracks include a pair of blinders from PFM: "Western", which has the air of a spoken-word gospel song, and "One And Only", a masterpiece of yearning. Peshay's devotional "Vocal" is mesmeric, and of Bukem's own contributions, "Demons Theme", conjures up the atmosphere of a virtual reality rainforest. Very fine stuff indeed. --David Bennun

From Amazon.com
A virtual pioneer in the realm of breakbeat, Danny "LTJ" Bukem first came into prominence as a DJ at Speed, a London nightclub that catered to the celebrated drum & bass cognoscenti. With his influential Good Looking and Looking Good music labels now quite popular in the U.K., Bukem also has a solid reputation as a producer and record executive. This double disc is a compilation of several outstanding Bukem performances, along with a number of remixed tracks by his favorite drum & bass compatriots. Including classic cuts by progressive electronic artists like Photek, DJ Crystl, and Peshay, LTJ Bukem has compiled a cutting-edge collection of studio/hardware-based dance music which proudly display mid-nineties breakbeat innovations straight out of the United Kingdom. This one's highly recommended. --Mitch Myers

CD Description
Finally, there are no excuses. Even the most ardent opponent of the "junglisation" of America has to step down and dance to the combination of deep-reggae bass, hard-hitting breakbeats and beautiful voices that is LOGICAL PROGRESSION. The collection, presented by DJ/producer L.T.J. Bukem, is an outstanding example of the dynamic and powerful music pulsing through the mid-'90s dance/techno scene. The vibrating bass lines are lush and organic, fully exploiting the power of themusic's low range. On top of these are soaring, euphoric melodies.
The healthy combination of sounds and musical styles on LOGICAL PROGRESSION is guaranteed to send any dance floor into a frenzy. Even the most "technophobic" listener will be caught up in these beats, while dedicated drum & bass fanatics will find themselves taken somewhere fresh and new.LOGICAL PROGRESSION is just that, a logical progression of sound and musical thought. Suggested listening environment: 6 a.m. on a monumental sound system deep in the concrete jungle, and 500 people to dance with.

Customer Reviews

Astonishingly diverse and skillful breakbeats5
This album is my favorite drum'n'bass album of all time. For me, and for any true fan of this genre, this album will never be samey, and never dull. The atmospheric tunes, coupled with clever use of samples, breathtaking basslines, and perfectly constructed beats make this record a must for any serious collector. More chilled than many drum'n'bass artists such as Grooverider, and more interesting and diverse than the ubiquitous Roni Size, this is dreamy, trippy, sophisticated, and yet seriously funky and danceable too. All in all, this album really summarises everything that is brilliant about drum'n'bass. If you like chilled, intelligent drum'n'bass, you probably already own this album, if not, then you really should.

Simply Fantastic5
If you've been searching for that ultimate Drum and Bass artist, look no further cos you've found him! LTJ Bukem's Journey Inwards album was an absolute scorcher. Intruiged by the magical drum beats and the soothing swishes of sweetness I went out and bought Logical Progression which I didn't catch on to at first. But the brilliance of Bukem won me over again...he has produced yet another masterpiece which will blow you're mind away! What are you waiting for?? Mad about D&B? Well go get it!!!

Brilliant!5
Has to be the best drum and bass of all time. It ranges from lyrical and mellow to hardcore beats, relaxing to manic. Samples both vocal and instrumental are skillfully used, yet the album almost has an air of nostalgia or wistfullness about it. Turn up the volume and chill!
