Perfect pop-rock
This has to be one of the very best pop-rock records ever made. There is nothing deep going on here, but there are bags of great tunes, clean power-packed arrangements and some great dynamics.
It won't change your life, but it will probably make you drive faster! It doesn't seem to have dated either, as it isn't cursed with fashionable production values or trendy soundscapes - good old fashioned stuff, firmly struck guitars and power drumming.
Of its type, a classic.
Pop at its best!
This is truly a stunning album.
Filled with fantastic pop tunes (Leave a light on for me, Runaway horses, Summer rain, La luna, Same thing) and stunning ballads (Vision of you, Shades of Michaelangelo ), this is without a doubt Belinda Carlisles best album in a catalogue of strong albums.
This is a true sing-a-long album! Every track stunning...
This is my favourite Belinda Carlisle album!!
Of all the Belinda Carlisle albums I own, this is my favourite. It's my favourite because all the tracks on the album are brilliant. Ever since I first heard 'Leave A Light On' 14 years ago, I thought this is a wonderful song. Then I got the album for Christmas that year (1989) and it's become my favourite Belinda Carlisle album. The songs in between the opening track "Leave A Light On" and the absolutely glorious closing track "Shades of Michaelangelo" are equally good and keep the rhythm of the album moving along nicely.
There are songs of love, remembering and a sense of longing to be in each other's arms no matter what happens. This album turned out to be one of my favourite albums of 1989 and it still sends a shiver down my spine. I absolutely adore and love the closing track "Shades of Michaelangelo" because it's beautifully written and I just love the use of the words 'the tears of the angels' to describe the rain. An album that should be owned by anyone who likes this amazing talent.
