Customer Reviews

Kim Weston fans will like this compliation.4
I liked the CD but was disappointed that some of her best songs were not in stereo (e.g., TAKE ME IN YOUR ARMS). However, if you can get over the mono versus stereo, this is an excellent CD for Kim Weston fans.

A superb collection5
I bought this because it was recommended by Amazon together with the Brenda Holloway compilation. I'm very glad that I did. It is a superb collection. Kim has one of the great soul voices. Her range of expression and sheer vocal technique from breathy to full voice is extraordinary. She can push into the hign register full voice like Aretha and still remain in perfect tune and control. Moreover Kim is a communicator and engages you emotionally. If you're a fan of soul and R&B music songs like Helpless, I'm Still Loving You and the legendary duets with Marvin Gaye will make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up.

It is extraordinary when listening to realise that Kim only had a handful of hit records in the US and no real hits in the UK. If there is any justice then as more of her material becomes available she will get the global recognition she truly deserves. MGM and Stax should be prevailed upon to re-release the Kim Weston material they hold and which hasn't seen the light of day for years.

Meanwhile this is a ridiculously cheap price for the best of this ladies superb Motown work. Buy it now! You cannot go wrong.

Who knows why?5
In spite of her appearance on Ready Steady Go there was no sign of Kim Weston on the U K pop charts-closest was the duet with Marvin Gaye.
A little more love and Take me in your arms (Rock me for a little while) were songs which could have hit if Gladys Knight had made them.
Nowadays collectors will assume that the artist was a U K hitmaker but the fact is she wasn't but her song Helpless became a hit in the 80s for Tracey Ullman
