After more than a decade as one of hip-hop's most pioneering and successful rap acts, Public Enemy forged new ground once again in the music business with 1999's THERE'S A POISON GOIN' ON. The album was one of the first feature releases available exclusively on the internet and is PE's loudest, most forceful record in years. Though the album does contain the radio-friendly "Do You Wanna Go Our Way", Public Enemy proves that it hasn't lost its vitriol with tracks like "Crash", "Last Mass of the Caballeros", and "LSD".
Flavor-Flav is back in full jokster mode on such tracks as "41:19" and "What What". And of course, what's a PE album without controversy? "Swindler's Lust", in which Chuck D criticises greed-driven record companies, has drawn considerable fire. For what it's worth, Chuck D and Public Enemy are as relevant todayas they were when they first appeared on the hip-hop scene.

Amazon.co.uk Review
The first word you hear on There's a Poison Goin' On is "kill". It's a word delivered without much conviction and without any context; it's a word that makes you question whether the once-vaunted PE will ever be relevant again. Fear not: the rest of the first track, "Dark Side of the Wall: 2000", is a dense, trippy soundscape that shows Terminator X's production has moved with the times. There's plenty here to like: "Do You Wanna Go Our Way???" is PE's strongest single in almost a decade, owing both to Chuck D's passion and to X's backing track; "Crash" owes its piano-loop melodicism to the Wu Tang Clan's RZA and finds good use for Flavor Flav's incessant energy, as does "Kevorkian", which features a great stutter-step beat. Elsewhere, the barren "Last Mass of the Caballeros" quickly wears out its welcome, as does the too-busy-to-get-down-to-business "World Tour Session". But the highest praise that can be given here is that, though PE has moved with the times, they really haven't changed that much from the days of Fear of a Black Planet: when Chuck spits, "Shit! I'm the reverse of jiggy", you know he's speaking for the whole group. --Randy Silver

Another public enemy hit.
Theres a poison goin on is easily as good as its elders and some of the songs really kick a**. Every song on this album is top quality such as world tour sessions and first the sheep next the shepherd. Unfortunately this song dosent quite live up to the standards of Fear of a black planet and nation of millions ...... etc. but this album is great so buy it.
