Back in the day...
..There was a time known as the 1990s. What a glorious time for R&B music that was. Where nowadays we are subjected to radio-friendly hip-pop and bland girl groups/singers where the image does the talking rather than the music, back in the 90s groups such as SWV, En Vogue and TLC provided us with music with character and above all, SOUL.
Brownstone was another of these groups. Their debut album was/is amazing. Full of soulful tunes and (quite frankly) stupendously powerful vocals and harmonies. All you need to do is listen to Nicci, Maxee and Mimi bring the house (and possibly the studio) down with songs such as 'Don't Cry For Me', 'Grapevyne' and 'If You Love Me'.
I don't have any favourites because this album is ridiculously brilliant and it was a damn shame that these women didn't get enough attention for their talents.
