Beginning with Dylan's "All Along The Watchtower", the listener is thrust into Jimi's world. While the radio staples are included here ("Purple Haze" and "Foxy Lady"), the lesser known but equally amazing tunes are here as well ("Angel", "Castles Made Of Sand"). Going the blues route as only Hendrix can, "Red House" is a tribute to the artists that preceded him.
Two live tracks close the package, "Star Spangled Banner" and "Wild Thing", showing the man at his most creative and furious. Although there was initially some dispute as to the remastering authenticity of the album's remastering, the sound quality is quite good. Withextensive liner notes by Rob Partridge, THE ULTIMATE EXPERIENCE is just that, the cream of Hendrix's crop, and materialthat shall remain timeless.

HE REALLY CARED FOR YOUR EARS...
This is without doubt the best single CD Hendrix compilation available anywhere. And the HDCD sound truly kicks ass! Absolutely Essential.

Perfect place to start
This is my all-time favourite Hendrix album. From the opening guitars on All Along the Watchtower to the final death twitches of Jimi's strat on Wild Thing this takes in many of Jimi's must-have recordings. In fact, if I were to run off a string of Hendrix's songs to be included in my desert-island compilation, this CD would be pretty much it. Buy it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Genius at Work
What we have here is the perfect CD to add to your guitar masters collection. A lot of Hendrix's greatest hits, including All Along the Watchtower, Voodoo Chile, and a fantastic live version of Wild Thing. However, this only gives you a glimpse at one of the best guitarists ever, and hopefully from here, you will be able to continue into and upinto Hendrix's emphatic guitaring.
