Product Description

Mr Richie's brand of silky-smooth macho soul was the butt of some critics during the early 80s. A plethora of handsome studs with great voices, whopping great medallions, who justwanted to lurve all night long followed Richie. Yet anotheralbum crammed with hit singles, it was one of the 80s salesphenomena both in the USA and the UK - as was "Hello". Corny but delicious, and unashamedly romantic, and consequently, more couples have danced to his "All Night Long (All Night)" than any other - and then 16 million couples went out and bought it.

Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
Can't Slow Down is probably Lionel Richie's best solo album, full of songs that would become hits--"All Night Long (All Night)", "Running With the Night," "Penny Lover" and "Hello." Like all of Richie's best music, the vocals are spare and the choruses inviting, with each track falling somewhere between straight-up pop and smoochy R&B. --Courtney Kemp

Takes me back......4
IMHO a great album...but not as good overall as the self titled first. Lionel Richie

Worth having just for Steve Lukather's epic solo on 'Running with the Night' -apparently there are Heavy Rock fans who listen to this track.

A 1983 'classic'!4

More of an 'EP' than an 'LP' at the time this - having only eight tracks - and five of those already done as singles! I'm not quite sure how Mr. Richie got away with this, since I'd always understood that any album had to have a minimum of nine tracks for it to legitimately fall into that category - however, this aside, as everyone knows, this was a 'classic' best-selling title from 1983.

A string of hits are featured on this, including the 'epic' chart-topper: 'Hello'. Ironically, the weakest song is not only the first track on the album, but also the title track which serves as an extremely 'dull' opening to just a handful of songs - after this, it's all positive stuff though!

Being a big fan of Lionel, had this album on Vinyl in the mid eighties. The favourites are repeated on many of his albums since, other than "The Only One" it was great to hear this track again.
