While their themes and mannerisms were always rooted in theSo-Cal style, Cypress Hill never really fit the stereotype of real Compton Gs. Blunted? Always! Dangerous? At times. Onthe G-funk tip that rules West Coast hip-hop? Not at all. Muggs' productions were more dissonant and edgier than anything coming off Death Row, more like a junior Bomb Squad. And the true precursor to B. Real's nasal style on the mic was no Comptonite but Beastie Boy Adrock. So it's no surprise that on CYPRESS HILL III (TEMPLES OF BOOM) this Budda Tribe align themselves with the hottest crew that the East Coast has to offer (the Wu-Tang Clan's U-God joins them on "Killa Hill", an RZA production), and that some of the boldest words onIII are molotovs lobbed in West Coast old-schooler Ice Cube's direction (on "No Rest For The Wicked"). Otherwise, TEMPLES OF BOOM is full of the same old rituals: Muggs keeps spinning the grey noises, while B. Real and Sen-Dog go to extremes to describe the disrespect they've garnered, the payback it'll result in, and the amount of smoke they'll be blowing toward the perpetrator's fallen body.

If you buy one Cypress buy this
When people think of Cypress Hill i guess they would (YAWN) think of "insane in the brain". But people out there who obviously know their stuff would be more likely to recommend this album which doesn't have THAT single on it. Point being, this album is their best.. best beats, best sound, best lyrics, its all there and you won't be disappointed
Cypress Hill at their finest?
I have always been a huge fan of Cypress Hill and Temples of Boom made me buy other albums such as - Black Sunday and Till Death Do Us Part - these are all great albums. For a rap fan I think this album is a must buy. It's dark and weird settings make the album one of Cypress Hills best.
Spooky and superb
A brilliant, brilliant album. I'm a big fan of Cypress Hill, and I would go as far as to say this is their best album. They've broken away from the funky beats of their first album and Black Sunday (still both quality albums), and have gone for an edgier, creepier sound.
The beats sound amazing. Muggs has combined hard-old-and-dusty drumbeats with booming baselines. He has added a 'record crackle' to most songs too, which really adds to the old school style. B-Real's rapping is at it's best ever, a brilliant sound and compelling lyrics. My favourite tracks are Boom Biddy Bye Bye, Stoned Raiders and Let it Rain.
Any CH fan that doesn't have this should get it now. It's hard to compare it to anything else.
