Product Description

NO JACKET REQUIRED reached number 1 in more countries than you can shake a drumstick at, and shows Collins at his most mature and versatile. 'Sussudio' opens the album with the familiar death-by-drums intro, setting the pattern of strong arrangements and attacking vocals. 'Only You Know And I Know'and 'Who Said I Would' explore this territory with the vibrant assistance of the Phoenix Horns, while the massive 'One More Night' provides an elegant contrast. Surely the strongest track, however, is the elegaic 'Long Long Way To Go', which brought tears to a billion pairs of eyes as one of the highlights of Live Aid.

Customer Reviews

Track 2's pretty good.....2
Rating: 4/10

Best tracks: "Only You Know and I Know", "Take Me Home", "One More Night", "Sussudio".

The third Phil Collins album is a case of business as usual, though it's all performed with a sleekness and punch that makes it at least listenable and a slightly more satisfying listening experience than Hello, I Must Be Going!; unfortunately nearly all the songs here are totally disposable and barely memorable. The big singles - "Sussudio", "One More Night" and "Take Me Home" - aren't bad at all and would be the best things here were it not for rather splendid guilty pleasure that is "Only You Know and I Know", which is undeniably rather cracking and plenty of fun. Sting and Peter Gabriel show up to provide backing vocals here and there, and the whole affair is impeccably produced and performed. Unfortunately, no amount of professionalism can compensate for what is often a hopelessly unexciting and unadventurous album. Also, Collins looks like an orange soaked in water on the front cover. Weird.

On the Slide3
Well I liked 'Sussudio', even though it is a blatent rip off of Prince's 1999 with a bit of EWF thrown in. The rest is rather patchy. 'One more night', 'long long way to go' and 'Only you know and I know' are fine songs but the rest largely leaves me underwhelmed. A pretty good effort overall, but not as good as earlier solo or Genesis.

Very nice5
This album is really nice. I have always enjoyed Phil's music, there is always something different about it, and this album have all that. The warmth of Phil's voice and music will always show, and you will definetly enjoy listening to this great album. Add one to your collection, wheather you're a fan or not, this will be a great addition.
