Editorial Reviews

CD Description
Hiatt entered the '90s firing on all cylinders, keeping a watchful eye on his songcraft as well as his ever-so-slowly increasing commercial recognition. Not only did he refuse to cut artistic corners on STOLEN MOMENTS in his efforts to broaden his fan base, he actually deepened his roots-rock pool and managed to get on the radio (briefly) in the process! STOLEN MOMENTS showcases a gentler (and sober) Hiatt. Whereas his early work often revealed a jagged sardonic edge, by 1990 Hiatt had loosened up considerably without losing an ounceof pop hook or a sliver of emotion from his craggy throat.
He hits the mark immediately with "Child of the Wild BlueYonder", easily his most effervescent song to date. Moreover, he has the good sense to avoid personal recovery melodramatics. If anything, he pokes fun at his less-than-wild self ("These days the only bar I ever see has got lettuce and tomatoes"). The album is not merely a light walk in the sunshine though. "Thirty Years of Tears" and "The Rest of the Dream" are among the most affecting songs in his entire oeuvre, revealing a warmth and maturity that compliments his passionate bark.

I wore out my Stolen Moments tape I loved it so much. I received the CD the day after I ordered it. Thank you Stephen, it arrived in perfect condition. Great customer service. xx

An Amazing Album5
I disagree with the only other reviewer on here who's written a review of this album. That review makes it sound quite mediocre compared to some of John Hiatt's other work, and says that many of the songs on here lack something which would make them more memorable. There's not a bad song on this fantastic album and, in fact, all the songs are brilliant and definitely have that certain something to make them all sparkle. Many of the songs are very emotional and I'm sure would resonate with just about everybody, and, as usual, his voice is just incredible and tugs at the heartstrings! To me, this album is one of John Hiatt's best and I never get tired of hearing it. DO NOT be put off by the half-hearted review by the previous reviewer on here. This is am AMAZING album and worth every penny.
