Customer Reviews

WATCH OUT for very poor quality copies of this CD1
The one I received was a blatant and very poor copy from ****kiosk claiming to be *approved* by Universal Music! I could find no such approval. It's supposed to be an audio CD but it's not a recognised standard and has html files with pictures of ALbum covers......

I smell a big rat and sent it back.

World Tour of Scotland3
This sweet little album was the musical accompaniment to Billy Connolly's infamous TV series, World Tour of Scotland, in which we first saw the legendary "Big Yin" travel around his homeland with his one man show, whilst also taking time to visit some of the most beautiful parts of Scotland and meet some of the most colourful characters there.
Such is Billy's wonderful personality that it wasn't surprising to see the format extended to World Tours of the rest of the UK, Ireland, Australia and most recently New Zealand.

Anyway onto the music, as I say it is a sweet little album with a fine collection of folk inspired songs and ditties, some of which feature either Billy or Ralph McTell on vocals. In fact that is my one slight gripe with the album that we could have done with more vocalisation overall. Obviously during the TV series the music was the backdrop to some stunning scenery and maybe without the visuals the music doesn't work quite so well.

Highlights include Ralph singing "Flower of Scotland", Billy's beautiful tribute to his home city in "I Wish I was in Glasgow" and the rousing finale of Van Morrison's "Irish Heartbeat" complete with pipes and drums.
