"CULT CLASSIC....BUT SHOULDN'T THERE BE MORE??"3
I was first introduced to this movie last year by a friend,at which point I was sure that this was one of the greatest films I'd ever seen. However this was for one reason, and one reason only: the soundtrack.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed this album very much. Bands like the Cranberries, Toad the wet Sprocket, and the classic "Never Met a Girl," by Edwyn Collins: Superb tunes, reminders of the long defunct Generation X era of the mid 1990s that so many have forgot save for a VH1 special or a marathon of Daria. Even the the track, "Sugarhigh" that rocked the film's climax, and demonstrated a young Réné Zellwegger's vocal talents pre-Chicago, appears.

However, I was both confused and saddened to see that so many of the choice tracks that made this film what it was for me, and so many others, were shamefully overlooked. Tracks such as:

"Romeo and Juliet" Dire Straits
"Video Killed the Radio Star," Buggles
"Money" Flying Lizards
"Hey Joe" Jimi Hendix
"This is the Day" The The

Even the infamous, "Say No More, Mon Amore," seems to have been discarded to dark far-flung corners of obscure movie trivia history. Fantastic tracks such of these deserved a place in this album. Imagine leaving Stealer's Wheels out the Reservoir Dogs OST, or if Chuck Berry hadn't given John and Uma something to dance about in Pulp Fiction?

Cult movies such as these are so often defined by their soundtracks. While this album was good listening, so many fans, including myself, demand for the tunes they remember, not an obscure, albeit decent back catalogue. A re-released special edition please...post haste.

Top soundtrack from one of THE teen films5
Taken from one of the most underated films ever, this soundtrack captures the essence of the film and the moods of most people. Fantastic to be miserable or happy to. Standout tracks have to be Sugerhigh (but where is Rene Zellweger? )plus the Gin Blossoms and Bright as Ezra.
You may not have heard of most of these bands - but hey try something new. i only have one criticism - which is that there should be a volume 2 as the film contains so many fantastic songs
