Former Clash member Mick Jones surprised all doubters with this auspicious debut. For starters, instead of going entirely solo, Jones immersed himself in another band, one that reveled in a multi-racial blend of musical styles. THIS IS BIGAUDION DYNAMITE is a seminal ground-breaker for its pastiche of movie and song samples, rock guitars, and pre-techno beats; its genre-mixing ethic helped pave the way for '90s artists such as Moby. Opening with the thrilling "Medicine Show", a laundry list of ridiculous cure-alls and remedies interspersed with dialogue and music samples from the film THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY, Jones clearly raises the bar fromhis final Clash moments. For a guy who once had aspirationsfor glam rock, Jones takes a thrillingly innovative step toward the future with THIS IS BIG AUDIO DYNAMITE.

Life After The Clash
After the unceremonious sacking of Mick Jones from The Clash, one of two things occured, The Clash were reduced to going on busking tours and Big Audio Dynamite began to overshadow the group during that period. This is probably due to the fact that with punk music long dead, BAD had arrived at the right time.
Fusing reggae, disco, dub and rock guitar, BAD's self titled debut as sorts is the sounds of the 80's, which whilst may sound dated today, remains a classic. Jones' cockney style voice is on form, his guitar playing is still good as ever, but it certainly proves that when he was fired by Strummer and Simonon, it resulted in the demise of the Clash.
Featuring the classics Medicine Show, E=MC2 and The Bottom Line, this is a feel good album plain and simple. It may not be widely recognised like The Clash, this along with The Mescaleroes is a note worthy purchase.
STEVIE DUB HIGHLY RECOMENDS!!
The first and best of B.A.D's brand of cosmopolitan HIP HOP.A forerunner of ACIDHOUSE and BAGGY theres not one duff track on this album.Along with NEW ORDER and even the PET SHOP BOYS,B.A.D are a mid eighties link between DISCO and HOUSE,the classic 'crossover' band they incorporated everything from RAGGA to RAP,PUNK with COUNTRY (THE EXCELLENT 'MEDICINE SHOW),FUNK and FILM SCORES.Although overshadowed by THE CLASH I feel MICK JONES lesser known ensemble are just as worthy of attention,he may have had his critics but the one thing you can say about him is at least he was never afraid to try new things with his music, hes never been stuck in that 77 timezone.Buy it.
An all-time favourite
I have just bought this on CD after wearing out my old vynal version. One of the greatest albums of the '80s, but still sounds like it could have been recorded yesterday. They do not get any better than E-MC2.
