Quiet Storm never dies, although many of its love-man practitioners' discs blend together into a kind of ardent wallpaper. So it's a bit of a surprise to find Brian McKnight's fourth album, Back at One asserting itself as a committed, highly listenable sample of the genre. Putting his writing skills to work, McKnight manages to make one mid-tempo plaint after another stand out from its brothers on the disc. In combination with his assured but never overbearing vocals, songs such as the title number, "Last Dance", and "6, 8, 12" trump anything Babyface has done lately. McKnight makes a big claim on the style with this excellent album. --Rickey Wright

What A "Music Artist" Should Be
Composer, writer and producer all in one. This is probably Brian Mcknight's most well known album, sadly not known well enough. It's also probably his best album up to the current date, although it's kind of hard to compare one album to another since the style has changed dramatically through the years, from Soul to Jazz via R&B. A unique artist through and through.

ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!
This album is totally amazing. if you love your R& B and romance, you'll love this album. there are some great lovers tracks in there. the greatest of which is BACK AT ONE. from the 1st time i heard it, i fell in love with it and my husband and i used it for our first dance at our wedding. it was the perfect song. there's also 6 Months 8 Days 12 Hours, Shall We Begin, last dance, and back at one in spanish (so romantic). Brian's just great. if you love this, then you have to listen to Superhero (which i just bought from here). he should have romance as a middle name. 100 out of 100.

start at one and keep going back
Out of a cd collection of over 300, it is this cd that stands out. Outstanding is the only word that can do it justice. It's not so much that track after track you are blown away. More the fact that the key songs on th album will have you hooked for a life time. They will set a bench mark for every other love song you here. Back at one the title track will become your favourite song without doubt. 6,8,12 will bring you to tears, and the rest will amaze you. His song writing excellence coupled with a voice that will leave acceptng second best no more, make this album a must. If i have a visitor, male female, old or young. I put this on and convert one more to the ways of brian. Buy it and see for your self, this will define your cd collection!!!
