Editorial Reviews
Amazon.co.uk Review
On The Life and Times of S. Carter, Jay-Z's century-closing guaranteed-platinum album, he compares his hit-making prowess to that of Michael Jackson--the unspoken difference being that Jigga appears to be far from wearing out his commercial welcome. For good reason, too; not only is the Roc-A-Fella king maker one prolific rapper and writer, his output is of high enough quality to keep heads ringin'. While there's no single classic on the order of "Hard Knock Life" here, collaborations with Dr. Dre (the truly defiant "Watch Me"), Juvenile ("Snoopy Track"), and UGK ("Big Pimpin'") argue well for Jay-Z's continued vitality. Further proof may lie in the fact that, faced with mass bootlegging weeks before the CD's release, the Z-man added several tracks, effectively revising it at the last minute. --Rickey Wright

Jay-Z forever
Since Jay-Z died in November 2008 there has been re-newed interest in his back catalogue and this album has, in particular been hailed as his best work, and righlty so. This album, whilst being similar in structure to others soars above the rest in my opinion as I use the empty CD case to store late night bogeys.
One of the best...
Short and sweet... Probably the best riding album of all time, truely a late-nineties summer hip-hop masterpiece. You gotta get it!
Rap album of the year so far, without a shadow of a doubt
This album shows Jay Z at his very best, some seriously hard hitting rap, perfect for that Sunday afternoon when you need that little bit more. Personally speaking, the best track on the album would have to be Big Pimpin'. With the Help of UGK this track really hits the spot so to speak, with its unique blend of rap with a definately Eastern rhythm. I would seriously recommend this to any rap conniseur..but beware, it isnt for the faint hearted..!
