Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
Heavy Gear II puts you into the seat of an armoured fighting machine, capable of carrying a vast array of weapons to aid you on your missions. As the commander of a team of elite "Heavy Gear" pilots, you fight to protect your community against invading forces. This sequel to Heavy Gear is a much-improved bundle, offering more in terms of gaming options and overall performance.

The tutorial takes you step by step through all the controls and some minor command and tactical techniques before you are pitched against your foe. The controls are simple to master, albeit aided by the provided keyboard map. The option to command your team shifts the emphasis from plain shoot-em-up to exploit your command potential. Stealth is also of great importance--avoiding detection is better than trying to fight against greater numbers and firepower. Heavy Gear II also incorporates more advanced details, such as active or passive radar, zoom HUD and external camera views.

Heavy Gear II is a serious competitor for Mechwarrior III, offering a similar all round package. With various network multiplayer options completing the package, Heavy Gear II is a really addictive weekend-eating game that will draw you in and enthral for hours. --Chris Hall

Great in single player mode against the hordes or on the net or lan with others.
Fully configurable Squad and team robots make them week make them strong its up to you theres lots you can do.
The graphics are superb with realistic rendering and the sound is out of this world.
All in all the best game for ages to come out on the Linux platform.
Great documentation as well (109 pages)explaining how to set up and install right the way through to battle stratagies, in fact everything that you need to know.
As you can tell I am well impressed.
