Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
Amel Larrieux, formerly of mellow duo Groove Theory, unleashes her wholesome musical and personal aspirations on her ear-catching solo debut, Infinite Possibilities. A fusion of hip-hop, groovy R&B, jazz, and Middle Eastern and African rhythms overlaid with the singer's soulful vocal meanderings, the album resonates with the influences of Sade, Innervisions-era Stevie Wonder, and Prince. All the while thoughtful and respectful to God, Larrieux's good-girl vibes are made less ordinary with a multilayered, proficient musical backdrop that deepens with each listen. The single "Get Up" reels the listener in with atmospheric synth notes and Larrieux's beguiling vocals, which spiral into a jazzy tone poem to close the track. "Sweet Misery" is another tune bolstered by her heartfelt vocal expressions, and "Infinite Possibilities" conveys the title's meaning as it builds to its climax of overlapping vocal rounds, dreamy keyboards, reverberating guitar chords, and plugging bass. "Down" is a striking funked-up variation on the piano-bar diva's usual melancholy mood. While not as gutsy as such contemporaries as Macy Gray and Angie Stone, Larrieux's vision for a modern, world-beat-savvy sound gains significance the longer it stays in the player. --Rebecca Wright

Customer Reviews

Superbly individual and amazingly creative5
She is being classed as part of the neo soul movement (D'angelo, Jazzephatnastees etc) but her style is definately unique. The greatest track for me is 'Shine', excellent lyrics about self progress and music which has a soul/indian/arabic feel.....the lady can not be categorised but FELT. Although there aren't many tracks the album is tightly produced and feels complete, 'i n i' is a mid tempo laid back track whilst 'get up' will have you shaking your 'thang'. A must buy for all mature music listeners

One of the Best Alternative R&B CDs I have ever heard5
I listened openly to this Cd when I first heard it. And her voice drifted me off into another reality, filled with infinite possibilites and beautiful weather and sweat miseries. I truly loved this CD. LOVED IT! There are so may beautiful themes that are incorporated into it. But what pains me the most is that her obvious talent is ignored by so called hip hop stations as New York's Hot 97 and several others. Amel's harmonious music is one that should be litened to and enjoyed. Her voice will take you to infinite possibilities. Artists like Sade smile down on this little Pisces child.

Excellent !!!5
Amel is my girl. I love this woman from Grove Theory days. She has the ability to produce soul music that is on a level of high inspiration and heart felt vibes that the soul craves. A musical masterpiece, a classic. This lady holds her own, a sound of pure smooth vibes. Feel Amel Larrieux lay it down for your soul. One listen and you'll love her too!
