this album shot kylie to the queen of pop status
ten superb 80s pop gems.although "KTLIE" is a long way from her recent album this is an original kylie classic.all 4 singles on this,"I SHOULD BE SO LUCKY","GOT TO BE CERTAIN","JE NE SAIS PAS POURQUAI" and of course "THE LOCOMOTION" all made it to either #1 or #2 and the rest of the album, well lets say all would have made great singles.why not buy this and see where kylies magical ride to the queen of pop throne started.a must for all fans.
The beginning of a long career
In 1980's Britain, the most successful pop record producers were the team of Stock, Aitken and Waterman. Many of their singers faded from popularity as quickly as they emerged, leaving a legacy of doubtful importance but a few did rise above the rest. The star which shone the brightest was Kylie.
Nobody who was around in Britain in the late eighties will ever forget the chorus line of her first hit - I should be so lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky - it's the kind of song you either love or hate. Many hate it, and I sometimes feel I ought to - but no, I love it. There was always something about Kylie, even then, that set her apart as something special. A lot of other people must have loved it, too, because it went to number one on the UK charts.
The album was produced by Stock, Aitken and Waterman, who wrote all the songs except for Locomotion (the Little Eva sixties classic), a cover that helped to convince me that Kylie should be taken seriously. Indeed, Locomotion provided Kylie with her only huge American hit during this period. It peaked at number two in the UK, as did Je ne sais pas porqoui (an English language song despite it's chorus line) and Got to be certain.
While many will continue to dismiss Kylie (especially her early albums), she is much better than many of the singers she is sometimes compared to, and has proved it by lasting longer than any of her critics thought possible.
Note that this CD is also available via the boxed set - Kylie Minogue x3. It's only three individual CD's wrapped in a cardboard slipcase but it's much cheaper than buying the three separately.
Kylie CD
All the songs on the CD are brilliant. A must for Kylie's fan. Highly recommended.
