Customer Reviews
Streisand will surprise you
Anyone whose view of Barbra Streisand is coloured by the terrible A Star is Born, her warbling with the Bee Gees (i.e., Guilty) or Yentl, should put these to one side. This album, made in 1963, and Barbra's Grammy winning debut, features a sophisticated set of quirky and unconventional songs (most of which came from her Greenwich Village nightclub repertoire of the early 60s) delivered in Barbra's unique, soaring, octave defying voice - her emotional intensity, and hunger for recognition are palpable in every song. Best songs: Cry me a River, I'll Tell the Man in the Street, Soon it's Gonna Rain, Happy Days Are Here Again, Much More and A Sleepin Bee. Buy it, and your view of La Streisand will change.
