Customer Reviews
An everlasting classic soul track but with thin support
What is it that marks some artists as undoubteded members of the "premier league" while others are doomed to languish forever among the "also rans"? Robert Knight certainly belongs in the latter category in spite of a sweet (if slightly derivative) soul voice.
On the evidence of this album (actually two original LPs with the duplicate material taken out) Robert Knight was not best served by his songwriters. Apart from the two well known hits ("Everlasting Love" and "Love on a mountain top") there is nothing here that approaches the same standard. On other tracks he sounds a bit like Smokey Robinson - not altogether a bad thing, but if I wanted a Smokey Robinson album ....
The two hits are worth the price of admission but the supporting tracks are pleasantly listenable rather than outstanding.
