Etienne Daho: One of Ner. 1 Top French Pop Artists
After the all time French favourites (Charles Aznavour, Johnny Hallyday, Sylvie Vartan, Francoise Hardy, Hervé Vilard among others) with their very well known vocal abilities, got firmly established in the public preferences in France and in the whole world, it seemed difficult that new singers could be added to that list of "Monsters" of the French Pop.
Etienne Daho is one of the few new artists that also represent the sound of French Pop Music. His style is techno-pop, a more electronical approach to music than the others (according to modern times), but also with a touch of 60's pop (surely influenced by his fave artists Francoise Hardy and Sylvie Vartan).
With this wonderful sound alchemy Etienne Daho has gained a place of his own in today's French music.
"Corps & Armes" shows his skills as a singer as well as a songwriter. My personal fave songs are : "Le Brasier", "Rendez-Vous à Vedra", "Les Mauvais Choix", "L'Année du Dragon" (he wrote French lyrics for Carly Simon's "Touched By The Sun"), "La Mémoire Vive", and "San Antonio de la Luna". In this CD I find him closer to ballads (either slow or mid-tempo), rather than some of his earlier material, closer to uptempo dance songs (as in "Pop Satori" for example).
