Amazon.co.uk Review
Direct from the arcades to the Dreamcast, Sega has a sure-fire smash on its hands with this near arcade-quality translation of popular zombie shooter House of the Dead 2. Most fast-action gaming fans will immediately dive into the basic premise of this game: shoot and destroy the zombies that have invaded the creepy haunt known as the Curien Mansion.

For what it's worth, House of the Dead 2 does contain a pretty intriguing plot that moves beyond the simplistic point-and-shoot genre. In addition to the fast-moving action, there are several subplots which shed light on the darker secrets lurking within this eerie, zombie-infested environment.

Even if you manage to master this game, there are several alternative plot and game paths that will keep you coming back for more. Your shooting patterns and on-screen actions will determine the plot path and gaming areas that you can explore. Skilled shooters and well-trained zombie slayers will be rewarded with secret game areas and unusual plot twists.

By saving the lives of innocent bystanders, you will usually be able to take a shorter path to the end of the game level. In addition, you'll often gain health bonuses that enable you to play longer. If you complete the game without allowing any hostages to die, you'll even unlock a secret bonus room. A few years ago, Sega disappointed some hardcore fans with its less-than-perfect home translation of the original House of the Dead. With House of the Dead 2, Sega has fully redeemed itself. --Brett Atwood

amazing5
i am a avid sega fan, so have owned almost every sega console that got released in the UK. one of my all time highlights was first playing the amazing Virtua cop on my saturn, with a light gun. i love light gun games, and i think every console deserves a great light gun game. house of the dead 2 (hotd2) is no exception. this game is amazing. you NEED the light gun for this game, and if your mates come round and see ya wasting zombies with a light gun in this game-they'll all want to play it. sega have a great history of light gun games, and this one really does not dissapoint. the lightguns are pricey, and hard to get hold of-so try and buy the hotd2 and gun package. i have 2 lightguns, and if theres no1 else to play it with me-its great fun using both guns at once-i suggest any person with a dc should buy this. definatly one of the dc's highlights.

Wow you must get this5
I have just taken delivery of this and "Wow" what can i say. This, in my opinion, is just like playing the arcade game except without the big arcade game box surrounding it. The light Gun is easy to use and comfortable, extremley accurate and responsive. The game is awsome, The creatures are fully animated as you would expect from a dreamcast, the colours are bright and easy to see what you are trying to hit. I have spent many pounds at my local arcade playing this game and now i don't have to. I have it in my house. Amazon delivery was excellant no complaints at all.
All I can say is "WHAT A PRODUCT"

Dead Good5
If you loved the arcade version of this game then you will want to buy the dreamcast conversion. Great graphics and gameplay. The light gun gives the game a more arcade feel and is worth the extra money. Feel of the gun is good and trigger is in a nice position. With House of Dead 2 being the only game at the moment where a light gun can be used it may seem not worth it. However, in 2001 I'm sure Sega will be converting more of their arcade shooting games onto the Dreamcast.
