F1 World Grand Prix accurately reproduces real racing rounds from the 98 Grand Prix--complete with the weather of the day. Take a shot at the championship in this title, which features a 3-D cockpit with two virtual views of the action. To make your experience more realistic, the racecars sustain damage when they crash into a wall or opponent. Your tyres may lose traction and start to unravel, so get to the pit quick for repairs and refuelling or you'll be left in the dust. Keep an eye out for the five different flags that will alert you to track activities. Each race that you select comes with a preview of championship history and overall position, as well as the drivers and their stats. Artificial Intelligence recreates the champion racer's driving style so you can follow in the tyre tread of your racing heroes.

Editorial Reviews
Amazon.co.uk Review
The Dreamcast delivers a new sense of realism to the racing games genre with F1 World Grand Prix. Not only is it one of the most beautiful games of its kind, with lavishly modelled cars and tracks, but it's one of the deepest ones as well.
Almost every aspect of F1's cars can be customiSed, including gear ratio, suspension, brake sensitivity, front and rear wings, as well as tyres and the amount of fuel racers choose to carry. Pit stops let players refuel and repair damage--which cars take realistically--and an announcer identifies racers' ranking, position gains and losses, and specific car damage.
There are 16 races in championship mode, each with weather conditions based on conditions found in the real event. A match-race mode lets two friends compete, which is ideal when you want to go head-to-head against a mate. The only real drawback to this game is that it lacks the speed of an arcade-style racer, but this fact alone may be enough to scare away non-racing fans. --Robb Guido
Pros:
- real F1 racers and their cars
- beautifully modelled tracks and nice weather effects
- an in-depth car-set-up screen
- races are slower than they could be
- the controls are a bit difficult to master

F1 World Grand Prix
We've all seen F1 for real, but when playing this simulation game, you'd think it was actually what you saw on t.v. The graphics are the best I've ever seen pretty much. It has a wide selection of cars and a wide selection of tracks and with that, your off. The computer are great fun to race, and all the views look life like. It shows you just how hard racing for real would be, only from the comfort of your own home. Another great game by Sega.
thank you
quite simply, thankyou, for creating such a perfect simulation of formula 1, from the official tracks, cars, sponsors and names to the wide variety of difficulty and settings which mean that you can spend weeks on the game without repeating yourself. it also allows you to experience all the events of the '98 season - i.e. schumacher's engine will blow at suzuka on the lap that it did in life. the control system is perfect with novice setting giving an arcade feel and expert providing all the realism and toughness of the sport. the sounds are excellent and the music is not bad enough to be turned off (probably a first for the games industry). lastability is present as completing and winning a season racing the full number of laps with flags, the safety car and all the other rules is no easy task. the only minor point is very occasional slow down and the fact that when qualifying, a driver who has driven a lap in 1 minute twenty, for example, suddenly drops down the order, not because he has been beaten, but because his time has been changed to a slower one. overall, a near perfect representation of the sport with minor flaws, which any F1 fan should own - the sequel is soon to be released which should be even better!
