Command and Conquer is one of the most successful game franchises out there. Aficionados of its real time pleasures have previously battled against NOD or the Global Defense Initiate but in this spin off, Red Alert it's the Ruskies that have Europe in the iron clad grasp.

The story follows an alternate history where Albert Einstein has applied his theories of relativity to time travel, hurtling back in time to assassinate Hitler before he ever comes to power. The plan works, and with Hitler out of the picture, Nazi Germany never materialises. But unfortunately, the Red Menace does, with Russia's Stalin turning a burgeoning war machine towards the West, raining destruction and terror on those unfortunate enough to find themselves standing in his way.

And that's where you come in, on either the Allied or Soviet side. Allied players will rely on stealth and surprise, while those aligning themselves with the Soviets will place their bets on brutal force. You get the same familiar isometric view but Red Alert has a graphical style all of its own. Each side has some killer units, the Soviet MiG and attack dogs counter the West's' naval superiority and you'll want to play both sides through to the bitter end just so that you can unlock all those unique units. There is a great balance of levels from the single unit commando missions to the all out war of attrition; there is something for all levels of strategy gamer. This pack also contains the expansion packs Aftermath and Counterstrike for all the cold war action that you can get.--George Hammond

This is a superb bundle of games - buy it!
This was the first game that I bought when I got my PC, and it is addictive in the extreme! To get the Red Alert pack, plus the two expansion packs for this price is a steal! Yes, Red Alert 2 is out now, and looks much better, but snazzy graphics and booming sound does not necessarily make a brilliant game, and this game IS brilliant! If I hadn't already got the expansion packs I'd have bought this like a shot. Very easy to get into, but very tough to master, it's a very worthy addition to your software collection! Buy it!

Red Alert is a classic
For me, out of every C&C game ever made, Red Alert has the best missions, the best balance and the best story of all. Red Alert 2 may be technically superior, have the best multiplayer and the most exciting units but for those cold winter sunday evenings, nothing beats a crack at Red Alert's classic single player campaign and at this price, which includes the two missions packs, it's a bargain.

Highly Addictive Game
I love this game; it kept me busy for hours. Everyone should own this finely crafted work. With both Counterstrike and Aftermath expansions it doubles the fun and playability. There are so many choices and options it is unbelievable. The game also includes "video footage" which I suppose adds a fairly dodgy, yet effective set-up to missions and tasks.
There are many forms of different weapons of destructions for the Allied and soviet forces.
Playing with numerous maps controlling everything you see on your screen, on vast medium or small terrains with you favourite side, guarantees ample satisfaction. I know that I am pleased with it!
