Customer Reviews

Possibly his best work5
When i first heard this album i thought it was terrible. I've been a Jarre fan for years but this album sounded totally different to anything he had ever done before.

It took quite a few listens before i grew to love the album. Granted it is very different to what he has done before but this is easily as good as Chronologie or Oxygene,(if not better).
Every song is different than the last and they are all absolutely fantastic.
I've owned this album for years now and it still sounds great.
I can't recommend this classic more.

one of the most UNDERRATED album of all time5
jean michels "metamorphoses" is a true departure from the rest of his back catologe,a true change in direction that only a true genius would take,it is the only jarre album i can mention that is influenced by other artist, the mechanical influence of kraftwerk on "je me souviens" and "rendez-vous paris",and the almost orbital influence on "hey gararin".yet i can not imagine any composer living or dead to come up with something as glorious as "millions of star" or "gloria lonely boy",if you ignore the orfil "give me a sign" this is fantastic work of art(but you do need to listen to it at least 5 times

Jarre and my degree5
Oh boy... Metamorphoses is different from Oxygene, Equinoxe and the rest, and I agree with the other reviews completely - you really do have to listen to this album a few times for it to work it's magic - but it does have magic...
Personally, I think it takes some time to move the brain on from what you expect Jarre to sound like to realise that this guy dug deep for this CD... So it is different, but it is pedigree Jarre make no error...
I picked this album up when i was completing my degree and I kid you not, it was on my CD player non-stop! It got me through the endless work - and quite often I would stop, stunned (really) by some new piece of the album that suddenly stood out - it seems different every time you play it; and this, for me, is a sign of a brilliant piece of music...
I have Oxygene and Equinox on special recording and like everybody else; I bow down to their brilliance...
But at the risk of being lynched by Jarre purists, this album has as many stand out moments as either of these - I don't write many reviews, but I've written this because I feel that this is Jarre's most underrated CD...
Buy it, play it a few times, drop any preconceptions, and join the enlightened...
Thanks for taking the time to read this review...
