For those willing to take the bait, Sega Bass Fishing has an addictive gameplay hook that will reel in sporting enthusiasts and even a few hardcore gamers. This realistic 3-D bass fishing simulation shines with three distinct gaming modes, eight fishing environments, and 13 different lures.

Let's be honest here. Fishing simulation games aren't for everyone. Many hardcore gamers will likely bypass this title because they believe the genre lacks the instant gratification of fast-moving shooters. That's a shame. Though it might not be everyone's can of worms, Sega Bass Fishing does offer a subtle, highly addictive gaming experience that will challenge even the most seasoned of game veterans.

This isn't Quake, to be sure. But you'll need similar gaming smarts and strategies to succeed in this water-based sporting environment. It takes a skilled aim and a steady hand to hook and reel in the largest fish, which are surrounded by smaller, less desirable catches. There's nothing worse than casting your lure directly at a monster-sized bass only to have it intercepted by a meddlesome minnow. We encountered more than our share of near misses, which gives us virtual bragging rights to "the one that got away".

While some gamers will prefer the subtlety of free-form fishing without time constraints, this game also features a fast-action arcade mode that requires the player to meet a minimum quota of catches before advancing to a new fishing environment. An optional Dreamcast fishing controller (sold separately) makes the task of catching these underwater critters all the easier. Sega Bass Fishing
Who likes fishing? It's an old man's sport! Well, think what you like, this game is great. I don't normally like fishing, infact in real life I detest it, but here, it's brilliant. There's superb graphics, along with realistic weather, a series of fish to catch (some harder than others) and great acessories.
If you wind in the fish to hard, they get free, if you don't pull hard enough they get free. It's a game of perfection, and is good fun to play.

May I just say that gaming is twice as good if you get the Sega fishing rod, it really does make it great fun.

Sega Bass Fishing Review
This is game is pretty cool especially if you like fishing.It is not extremly realistic but the graphics are brilliant for an early game on the dreamcast. The down sides of this game are that competition fishing very hard and can get rather frustrating if things don't go your way and arcade mode is very easy to complete but nether less this game is enjoyable. A fishing rod with this game is also more fun than a standard controller.

Get your tackle out...
My mates mocked me when I told them that I'd bought a fishing game, but even they were soon seduced by its watery charms. Lay your bait and then lay it wait for one of the big bass boys to come and get some. Even once they're hooked the game ain't over, as you've then got to reel em in. And they can be very slippery customers. Don't be put off this game by the fact it's about fishing. Get yourself an electronic rod and prepare to battle the bass.
