One Of His Better Videos4
Elton’s “Live In Australia” remains one of his best performances, although the DVD is tough to find. His 2002 tour at Madison Square Garden is excellent, but falls short of a full concert. “Live In Barcelona” sees Elton somewhere in between, but he is still at his best.

With a set of twenty one songs, Elton includes great renditions of, “Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me”, “Tiny Dancer “, “Burn Down the Mission” and, of course, “The One” (it was “The One” tour). Elton John also pays tribute to Queen’s Freddie Mercury by singing, “The Show Must Go On’. It is the only song in which he gets up from his piano and prances around the stage. The finale is a beautiful rendition of “Your Song” and the instrumental “Song For Guy”.

The sets and clothes were all designed by Gianni Versace and he seems to work without being overbearing. The camera shots are fairly typical, but the sound is crisp and clear. There is also a great 50 minute documentary, in which, you meet the entire band, backup singers, tour managers, lighting coordinators and, of course, Gianni Versace. Also included is a making of documentary of “The One” video, with the video included. It is well worth the time and trip.

Below average video and audio2
I can not believe that a superstar like Elton John could allow a DVD release of such relatively poor video and audio quality. I really enjoy John's music and have a fairly high end audio system, but I was disappointed with this release. In my opinion, only relatively new concerts of such an artist should be released, where the lastest audio and video techniques are used, in order to fully reflect his talents. Perhaps it is the greed of the recording companies trying to make a few extra bucks. My comments also apply to the Dire Straits "Very Best Of" DVD where the video is very poor and audio is less than average. Both artists' CD releases are of superior audio quality. These talented musicans deserve much better. I am 56 years old and have seen these artists from day one. Compare the quality of the Eagles "Hell Freezes Over" DTS DVD with the abovementioned. The Eagles release is far superior I am sorry to say.

Elton at his finest5
Elton really shines on this one. Recorded live in Barcelona in 1992, Elton is performing at his best after releasing the album "The One". The concert goes on for 2 full hours, performing his greatest hits up till that time. Enjoy many "extended" versions of some classic songs. Great sound quality. Any Elton fan would be crazy to miss this one. You'll discover why Elton John has survived for so many years - constantly changing with fashions and the ability to re-invent himself.

Also included on this DVD is a documentary about his World Tour "The One" and a behind the scenes look. All in all a fantastic buy.
