Madonna's obsession with all things English comes to something of a head on the video for her single "Music", taken from the album of the same name, as she dons the gold jewellery and cowboy hat of the garage set and hangs out with Ali G. With controversial video director Jonas Akerland at the helm, Madonna has never looked trashier as she pouts and writhes around in the back of a stretch limo, champagne glass in hand, as her chauffeur, Mr G himself, tries to keep his eyes on the road.

Renowned for his rather more explicit videos for the Prodigy ("Smack My Bitch Up") and The Cardigans ("My Favourite Game"), the only taste crimes that Akerland commits here are those of fashion. Having worked with Madonna previously on the video for "Ray of Light", here Akerland combines live action with garish animation, the video's tacky stylings complementing the song's disco sensibilities perfectly. Ali G even manages to achieve the seemingly impossible by being funny in a music video, a sure sign of the man's comedic talent. Big up the Staines Massive. --Helen Marquis

The best Music Yet!
This DVD is brilliant, It features 2 versions of the Music Video including the extended version. The DVD also has some cool software on it such as links to Madonna's website. All true Madonna fans should have a copy of this.

A top video for a single that's a return to form for Madonna
I obviously disagree with Bedford here, certainly my spelling & grammar does anyway. An enjoyable outing from Madonna with her straying into the dance music arena as successfully as ever. The video is very now and she looks stunning, as does Mr G in all his bad taste finery. As usual, Madonna captures the current tastes both with her, and the video's, look and with the tempo of her music. Will she ever stop?

What can you say about this classic video?

Featuring the irrepresible Ali G and with a mixture of slick live direction and fantastic animation it is a worthy addition to anyones DVD collection. The sound quality is particularly impressive and I would recommend this as a must have for any Madonna fan.
