Musical Shangri-La5
This live San Diego concert is indeed "Paradise" and not to be missed by any real Sade fan. I've had this since it came out and watch it at least once a year. You can just feel the excitement of being there in this lavishly produced concert film that brings both the music and the unique relationship of Sade to her loyal fans to the forefront.

It is a performance bare of costume changes and pyrotechnics, as it is just about the music we love. Sade has never been lovelier and her vocals are surrounded by bass, horns, and precussion from fine jazz musicians like horn player Rick Braun. There is an intimate feel here, the larger venue not distracting from the small jazz club flavor always created by Sade and her marvelous band.

You get seventeen songs here and yet you're sorry it's not longer, something you rarely feel when a concert film is over. It is worth noting that this band has stayed together during years of absence by Sade herself, an integrity and loyalty displayed in a business without any. But this is artistry and not business for Sade and her band, their loyalty a testement to both Sade and themselves. It is the same kind of relationship she has with her fans.

Fans may cheer and go crazy as they are treated to one great song after another but there is also respect here. Late in the concert Sade leans down and accepts roses from a fan. No one tries to rush the stage and grab her and she gives the fan a gentle kiss as a thank you, in a day and age where your not suppose to. That, is Sade Adu.

There is a particularly intimate moment where Sade sets down and talks briefly about a personal encounter with a man in a New York bar. He told her his story of love and war which became the haunting "Like a Tattoo", a song included on her "Love Deluxe" album. "This is his story," she tells us before beginning. It is a nice moment.

Exotic rhythms take you from sandy shores to romantic nightclubs and the overall feel of this concert is a happy one. If you don't own this you'll want to go back and pick it up. All the songs are here and it is a wonderful reminder of why we love Sade, and how much she loves us back.

Sultry Sound Of R n B Soul4
Sade can at times be a bit well, monotone, but her early performance live DVD here shows what an entertainer she can be, doing much of her routine barefoot, Sade Adu glides through the set as angelically as you would expect and more. Sade can't be appreciated the same unless she's live. This is different to the 'Lover's Live' DVD though there are similarities in tracks, the latter is definitely the best Sade live DVD, but as an added extra, you can't go wrong with this purchase either. A much loved part of my collection.

Amazing, brilliant and out of this world4
It's a brilliant concept where Sade shows her most important songs, good sound and picture.
