an edited version of the original film ?3
I remember seeing the original Experince movie when it first came out in 1968 and I'm sure it was much longer then. It seems to have been edited down by the Hendrix Estate which is a big pity. I'm not sure if any of the music has been cut but certainly some of the interviews are missing, particularly the unique Cynthia Caster Plaster interview. I wish I could find out the length of the original movie but unusually imdb.com does not have a lot of detail on this. Anyway, a unique record of how people saw Hendrix at the time in the Sixties.Better than Rainbow Bridge. But not as good as the Warner Bros Jimi Hendrix movie.

Short, spotty, but worth seeing3
This is a straightforward reissue of a 1967 short (30 minutes, and no it hasn't been re-edited for this release) that has been out several times before but is still worth seeing, especially at this bargain Amazon price. You get some prime live Experience footage from their peak period at a 1967 gig in Blackpool England (!); some short face-to-face interviews within the band (Hendrix admits he loves a good gimmick); a dodgy sequence filmed on London's South Bank where the camera chases a dolly bird ("foxy lady" - geddit?) around, and of course the 12-string solo version of "Hear My Train". DVD extras include some crudely-shot Swedish TV footage (extracted from a much longer concert available elsewhere in its entirety, if you know where to look) and a pointless "Dolly Dagger" video made for the MTV de-generation a few years back. Ugh. Ignore that and check out the live footage, and marvel at the lack of pyrotechnics at these shows. There were no big video screens; no expensive light shows; no backup singers or dancers and only a basic PA if any PA at all in those days - this and some flashing spotlights were about your limit in 1967. Period stuff.

OK, but still essential3
Given the scarcity of Hendrix on film, this is worth buying for that reason alone. There are some good live performances from 1967, the classic, unrehearsed 'Hear My Train a'Comin' and some interesting interviews with Jimi, Noel and Mitch.

The film is narrated by Alexis Korner, who regularly featured the Experience on his BBC radio show and even played on at least one song.

The extras are pretty much a waste of space: a listless performance from 1969 and a silly MTV type Dolly Dagger.

Sound and picture quality is OK.

Still worth buying, but.
