Amazon.co.uk Review
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was nicknamed "Disney's Folly" by contemporary observers; they doubted that the short cartoons shown before the main film could ever successfully make the transition from filler to feature presentation. Surely, no one would sit still for over an hour to watch an animated film, their eyes smarting from the bright colours on screen? Fortunately, Walt Disney and his army of artists persisted and the world's first full-length animated feature was finally released in 1937 to widespread acclaim.

Adapted from the Grimm fairytale, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is chillingly dark in places, reflecting its roots in European folklore, but the deft Disney touch ensures that the overall tone remains light and the story develops apace, swept along on the perfect musical score. Any lingering gloom is quickly dispelled by the superbly characterised dwarfs and by the humorous antics of the various irresistible fauna that threaten to steal the show in several scenes. The pioneering animation is breathtaking and songs such as "Heigh Ho, Heigh Ho" and "Whistle While You Work", now firmly embedded in popular culture, are seamlessly interwoven with the action.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs happens to be an interesting technological milestone in cinema history--it is also an enduring masterpiece of family entertainment. To the millions who have fallen under its spell over the years, this magical fairy tale remains one of Disney's most enchanting and best-loved films. Only Grumpy could resist. --Helen Baker

The Classic Disney film in a DVD Edition for the Ages5
It is clear from the DVD edition that Disney has put together for "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs," the beloved film enshrined in cinema history as the first full-length animated film, that this is the standard by which all future Disney releases will be judged. Your kids or grandchildren might find the animation to be somewhat quaint, but they will certainly be impressed by this "Immersive 2-Disc DVD Experience." There is so much to do with the extras that they might even forget to actually watch the movie, which has been digitally restored. However, this would be a big mistake as you are not going to be able to solve the puzzles and win "Dopey's Wild Mine Ride" game if you have not seen the film.

Everything is hosted by either Roy Disney or the Magic Mirror on the Wall (you have to love that that dry sense of humor), and what they have on the first disc along with the movie is enough to thrill any fan of Snow White. You can listen to Barbra Streisand sing "Some Day My Prince Will Come" or you can all sing the Karaoke version of "Heigh-Ho." Then there is "The Making of 'Snow White'" documentary, the aduio commentary and even the Silly Symphony cartoon "Goddess of Spring." And all of this is before you even get to the second disc where you are simply going to find what must be EVERYTHING Disney has relating to this film as we explore "The Legacy of 'Snow White.'" There are not just deleted scenes and a deleted song ("You're Never Too Old To Be Young"), there are abandoned concepts for several scenes, such as a "fantasy version" of "Some Day My Prince Will Come." Just look at the Edition Details for this DVD: have you ever seen a list that long? It took me the entire weekend just to get through MOST of what is on this DVD.

Yes, you bought the Disney animated films on videotape and then you went out and got them on DVD. But the extras alone are worth the price of this first "Platinum Edition." Most importantly, Disney has clearly made a covenant with its audience that this is indeed the level of excellence they will do with their entire collection of classic films and I only hope they do this not just for "Pinocchio" but also for "Mary Poppins" as well. This is what happens when a studio cherishes its classic films as much as we do.

How I felt about this film as a child!!5
My mother took me to see "Snow White" when I was about four, and had to bring me out of the cinema because the "Wicked Queen" made me cry so much!! She looked exactly like one of my aunts, which didn't help either!!
Seeing it again, many years later, I thought it was superb with so much detail and imagination, especially in the dwarfs' cottage. The Queen still reminded me of my aunt, though!
I think that a number of Disney films are not really suitable for small children as there are quite a lot of potentially scary bits in them, but I am still a confirmed Disney fan in spite of being a grandmother!

excellent! my kids watched it 4 times already.5
It has it's scary moments (each time my eldest 5 year old shuts her eyes when snow white ran through the woods), and it's funny moments (when the dwarfs poke their faces up at the end of the bed where snow white was sleeping). My 3 kids watched it again and again, and each time they tell me what they had missed before! Marvellous, even for the adults; and oh! what a sad, happy ending!
