This is a role-playing game that features gameplay that's non-linear and in real-time. To help your ranch become successful, befriend the Harvest Sprites. There are over 50 characters with which you can interact. You can attend festivals, and compete in events like Chicken Sumo and the annual Town Tomato Fight. Collect and cook different recipes--even create your own dishes to impress the ladies.

Manufacturer's Description
When you were young, you visited a small town where your grandfather owned a ranch; your grandfather was a very busy man, but he welcomed you with open arms. The town was small, but there was something new and exciting to do every day. One day while hiking in the mountains behind your grandfather's ranch you met a girl. You remember singing songs together high on top of the mountain's summit. She had a beautiful voice. When it was time to return home, you promised her you would be back one day.
10 years have passed... once again you visit your grandfather's ranch and find that it has become a wasteland after his passing. The town mayor says he'll give you three years to turn this rundown farm into the thriving farm it used to be. With little money and only a handful of tools, you and your dog decide to restore the ranch to something your grandfather would be proud of. One more thought fills your mind: you wonder how the girl you met is doing. You look forward to the day when you can tell her, "I kept my promise."

ZOMG! The addictiveness!
I remember playing this game a long time ago when I borrowed it from a friend. I never though a farming game would be so addictive!
After playing the game for a while, I decided to go and buy it for myself and I've never bought a game that's been so addictive!
You start off with an old farm your grandfather used to own, and you have 3 years to make it as a successful farmer and build the farm up so it is productive and worth keeping. You can grow crops, breed animals, go fishing, mining, and interact with the village around you. And, if you work hard enough at getting a girlfriend, you can add an addition to the family, a wife.
Highly playable by any age group and very very addictive once you start playing and get used to the controls. Buy this game now and join the Harvest Moon addicts club!
Harvest Moon
I suppose I’d better start this review by admitting that I’m not a gamer of any sort and my children’s’ obsession with the Playstation has been something I haven’t taken any part in at all, so it’s all the more puzzling why after watching my daughter play this game of “Harvest Moon” both my wife and I are secretly loading up the Playstation at night for an hour or twos clandestine gaming!
So what’s the game all about and why is it so addictive? If you’d ever fancied the idea of running a farm and performing all the backbreaking tasks that go into it then this is your chance. Having being left the rather overgrown and unkempt farm by your grandfather you must take over the reins and turn the farm into a success in only three years if you’re to be allowed to stay in the village. All the regular farm tasks from hoeing, planting and reaping and tending the animals, collecting the eggs, shearing the sheep and milking the cows are here and they must be carried out the dutiful regularly if you’re going to earn your keep.
Still it’s not all work and no play as the village is inhabited by a veritable array of likely characters and interesting people. You can interact with these folk, getting in their good books by giving them gifts on their birthdays or getting on their wrong side by being rude and not helping them. They all have their own background and stories and it’s this element in the game which makes it so fascinating. Perhaps the most intriguing part of the game is wooing one of the local girls in the hope that you can eventually marry her.
The game play is nice and light and once the controls have been mastered the speed the game can be played at is fast and entertaining. I’ve no doubt that the “shoot ‘em up” crowd might not quite get the appeal of this gentle and non-violent game but for those who appreciate a good story and a challenge this will present hours and hours of enjoyment.
The best harvest moon game to walk the earth!!!!
At the very begining you watch a cinematic, i won't spoil it for you,
You start off in a small village, you get shown around you gramps old ranch by the mayor. At the start it is hard to get going, and people don't enjoy it, but when you complete the first year the cash starts to roll in, cows, sheep start to play their roll. now tou have enough money the game is easy going, with lots of festivals and fun things to do, but if you like the hard farming you can carry on and make the best farm you have ever seen, the only promlem about sitting around is that you have to get the farm up to scratch in 3 Years!!!!!!! not a long time, you think, this is where the long seasons of 30 days takes it's roll, people find the seasons to long, i find them fine, it is a sense of achievement at the end of every year . I wold strongly recommend this game, it is a relaxing game from all the shoot em up. YOU MUST TRY IT !!!!!!!!
