Amazon.co.uk Review
The first thing you'll notice when you get Legend of Dragoon, is that it comes on 4 CDs giving you the possibilities for hours of gameplay. As introductions to games go, this is pretty darn good, only one minor problem, make sure you save the game as soon as you have the chance. If you don't you'll be sitting through the (rather long) intro again as there is no way to skip it.

Once past the intro, you'll be presented with an RPG of sorts (similar in some fashions to the Baldur's Gate games on the PC). You take the role of the main hero and the storyline unfolds in a relatively linear fashion to begin with, leading you to new places and to meet new people (some of whom will join you in your quest) but once you have the hang of the gameplay, it rapidly becomes more open and you are free to do as you wish. The battle sequences will either be the main-stay of the game or the most infuriating thing you'll ever come across.

Taken from the 2D environment into a 3D battle arena with turn-based combat. You (and any companions) have the chance to attack enemies, use magical attacks, defend or retreat. You will gain items and experience points dependant on the outcome of these battles and your warrior(s) become stronger and more skillful as they gain experience. If you like RPGs or if you've never tried one before, give this a shot-you'll love it!--Andi Flower

Legend of Dragoon5
This game is a work of art. It gives the final fantasy series a run for it's money. The graphics are very well done and the game plot is excellent, with twists and turns which leaves even more gripped while playing it. This game is a must for all hardcore RPG fans.

Very well done!5
This is easily the best rpg beyond the FF7-9 series on the PSone. The battle system is unique, and the world and it's monsters are superbly done. The plot, despite starting off dubiously, thickens greatly after the first disc or so, and the games is massive in it's proportions. The greatest moments are the video sequences which are liberally spread into the fantastic gameplay. I'd say the only minor problem the game has is the world map has fixed routes, rather than wandering around, but there are so many towns and areas, it will seem irrelavent in comparision. Highly under rated game, and if you've played FF to death, this is the next stop.

flawed but worth playing3
First thing I noticed playing this is its similarity to FF7, obviously the developers had FF7 in mind when making this game, dont let this fool you though, it dosent come close to the grandaddy of RPGs.

Graphics-wise its quite impressive and it seems the developers have spent a lot of time on this area, Especially the FMV sequences and the pre rendered backdrops which are of similar quality to the Final fantasy games (jaw dropping in other words).

The gameplay is where I felt the game fell down, there are many annoying flaws in the system, one of which is that you cant execute a simple attack, you have to do a combo which requires you to hit a selection of buttons(similar to Zells limit break on FF8) every time you want to attack, the game therefore requires your undue attention at all times (even if you are just casually fighting to get your levels up, which becomes quite agrivating).

ONe more thing I need to get off my chest is the ridiculous feature of having a very limited space in your items list, which serves no constructive or innovative purpose other than driving you insane and results in you discarding a number of useful itmes.

If your an RPG fan looking for a game that will last you a while then you might enjoy this, or if you arent to picky and can overlook these flaws then theres quite an innovative game in there waiting to be played.
