Customer Reviews
as close to perfection as you may find
Summerslam 2000 is one of the best summerslams of all time,it is packed with an arrogance all of its own,it knows that it is good and has a very good card, all that was left was for those involved to raise their game and they did just that.
The event opened with a six man tag when the right to censor (steven richards, bull buchanan and the goodfather) went up against too cool (scotty 2 hotty, grand master sexay) along with rikeshi.
This match was short and harmless enough with a good ending, the two teams worked hard and caused some bedlam and a good energy to kickstart the event off in fine style.
X pac and road dogg were up next in a bit of a grudge match that was meant to end on this night, both wrestlers had a similar sort of style and that lead to a close contest,it didnt last that long so we were left with mainly killer and little filler.
A mixed tag team match was up next as the intercontiental championship was on the line, the champ val venis teamed with trish stratus and they went up against eddie guererro and chyna,if either eddie or chyna pinned either trish or val then he/she would win the belt, well it was an interesting idea. The match itself was good enough and it certainly didnt take itself that seriously,i was certainly entertained and there is always a place for that basic fundemental need in the WWE.
Jerry lawler fought tazz next, this row started over tazz attacking commentator jim ross, who would have thought they would have shared mics years later, anyway, this match was short also but pretty good,i didnt hold my breath for blinding quality but it wasnt the worst i have seen and the ending was good.
The much missed hardcore championship was defended next as the champion shane mcmahon went up against the highly skilled but dull steve blackman in a match that wont rank as an out and out classic but contained one of the most sinister of all endings,a real mouth opener,a crowd pleaser, even if half the crowd could have been sick, there was a sense of violence here that prevailed throughout even if a hit with a bin lid was oversold time and time again, this match certainly had a talking point, job done!
A two out of three falls match was next as chris benoit and chris jericho took centre stage, this match featured two men who shared similar pasts and their rise to the top was again similar in style and with that being said they had similar styles that made for a really good wrestling match. The match had a great pace and there was little in the way of mistakes so both men were at the top of their game for a match that went a long way to proving that WWF had the better of the talent compared to the then active WCW.
The WWF tag team belts were contested next in a tables, ladders and chairs match as the champs, edge and christian went up against the dudley boyz and the hardy. The word classic is sometimes overused in wrestling but here is a bonafide classic of a match, one of the best matches of its kind or any kind perhaps in recent memory,it was just stunning, freeflying, skills,a real killer enviroment and every ounce of heart handed out as if it was candy, this match is stunning and i implore you to check it out hey.
The only lowpoint that comes to mind on the night was next as the kat fought terri in a terrible match with an even worse stipulation, lets move on,shall we?
The undertaker fought kane next in a match that wasnt much better than the ladies match before in truth but featured some good stuff but was generally let down by the pedestrian pace and no real give in either man plus the ending was a bit lousy.
The main event was next and was a triple threat for the WWF championship, the champ, the rock went up against kurt angle and triple h who were embroiled in a row over stephanie mcmahon that kept us entertained during the summer of 2000.The match contained some superb moments and a real showcase for the brilliance of the three men involved, shame that their could be only be one winner,ah well, lets make it two ,as the loyal fans were treated to a real classic,4.5 out of 5 stars, one to enjoy over and over then.
Summerslam 2000
A very underated Pay Per view. Tazz and Lawler had a fantastic match, as did too Cool and Right to censor. Wrestling nowadays is a lot worse, especaly on Smackdown. Unforgiven 2000 was just as good, although this is one of my favourate pay per views ever!
Wrestling, Blood, Hardcore and Brawls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
With out a dout, the best Summerslam ever as you get to see matches from TLC to Triple Threat matches. You name it, this ppv had everything. See Wrestlers from Kurt Angle, Eddie Guerrero, Kane, The Undertaker, Steve Blackman, The Rock, HHH, Too Cool and many more athlets !!!!!!!!!!
1. Too Cool and Rikishi vs Right to Censor
A good opener but proberly the worst match on the PPV but then again it was funny so that is what makes this match, an awesome match. The Ending Saw Scotty too hotty doing his worm but steven Richards does a Super Kick to Scotty giving RTC the Win. 7.5/10
2. X-Pac vs Roadd Dog
Bad match because it is to short and they should of made the match no DQ but they did not. Bad match whitch was a waste of time on this night. 2/10
3. Val Venis and Trish Stratus vs Chyna and Eddie Guerrero
This was an mixed tag team match were if Chyna or Eddie Guerrero pined there oppenant then they will become the IC champion. Good ending with chyna ding her Gorilla Press Slam on Trish to get the Win. 8.5/10
4. Jerry Lawler vs Tazz
A Short match but with a super ending witch made this match on of the best on the card. The ending saw JR get his candy jar and smaches it onto tazz and he bleeds like hell. Lawler wins 9/10
5. Steve Blackman vs Shane McMahon
Oh My God. Shane must be dead. Shane fell 50 feet high and then steve blackman jumped 30 feets all the way down onto shane. Trust me, you have to see it to elive me on this one. 8/10
6. Chris Benoit vs Chris Jericho
This was 2 out of three falls and this was not a classic but they did do some good moves in this one. At one Point, it looks like Y2J breaks his arm but he did not. 8/10
7. TLC Match
It was The Hardy Boyz vs E&C vs Team 3D in the First TLC match ever. Good table spots as matt hardy goes flying back 15 feet high through two tables on the outside. 10/10
8. Terri vs The Kat
This was the First and only "Thong Stinkface match" in Wrestling history and it was boring . The ending was funny when The Kat won and Al Snow put her on his Shoulders and then he turns her around and well, just watch it. 3/10
9. Kane vs The Undertaker
This was a non-stop brawl as both of them fight each other in a battle of two brothers and two monsters. Stupid Storyline but it is the WWE and they always do bad Storylines. Good ending When taker takes Kanes mask of and kane runs to the back to make it a no contest. 0/10 the match never really started
10. Kurt Angle vs The Rock vs HHH
An Awesome match and the best prematch fight ever as HHH pedigree's Angle through a Table then hen the rocks music hits, The People went nuts. The Rock won with the People's Elbow onto HHH. 11/10
so all i have to say is BUY, BUY, Buy and just get it KNOW
