Rogue Squadron challenges players to jump into Luke Skywalker's flight suit for exhilarating, high-speed missions against the dreaded Galactic Empire in such fabled Rebel starfighters as X-wings, Y-wings and A-wings, as well as V-wing air speeders and snow speeders. The stakes are high and the hazards even higher: if players lose wingmates in battle, they risk their own demise. If they protect them, their mates will return the favour. Aerial conflict takes place in a variety of extraordinary 3-D planetary settings that range from familiar Star Wars locales such as Tatooine, to ones never before seen, including Kessel and Mon Calamari. Players will test their dogfight skills over spectacular environments including water, canyons, deserts, treetops and volcanic regions. Crafts will be equipped with lasers, seeker missiles, ion cannons and more. Rogue Squadron features an assortment of camera perspectives that range from in-the-cockpit to several exterior points of view. Immersive 3-D details such as real-time lighting and spectacular special effects such as smoke, engine glow and tracer fire truly bring the Star Wars universe to life.

Ever wonder what Luke Skywalker did after he blew up the Death Star, or how the Rebels came to establish their base on Hoth? The answers are all in Star Wars--Rogue Squadron 3-D. Players become Luke in this shooter game, leading missions for a Rebellion still scrambling to recover from the loss of its base at the end of the original Star Wars film. Luke and Wedge Antilles, the sole survivors of the Death Star battle, have formed an elite squadron of pilots to fly from one end of the galaxy to another, fighting Imperial ships from TIE fighters to the fearsome AT-ATs of The Empire Strikes Back.

With clear mission goals and easy-to-fly spacecraft at your command, Star Wars--Rogue Squadron 3-D offers hours of player entertainment. It has an arcade-style sensibility, scoring your success in each level with a gold, silver or bronze medal. Enough medals translate into promotions and access to better technology. The action takes place over planets established in Star Wars film and comic book tie-ins; this, when combined with the familiar Star Wars music and sounds, renders pleasing--almost homey--familiarity. The worlds and ships are drawn in meticulous detail, right down to effects like dust plumes which rise from the deserts of Tatooine when you're about to crash into the sand.

Unfortunately, the game allows single-player action only, with no multiplayer options on either a local network or Internet. Some players may find this disappointing. But for fans of the movies or anyone looking for high-flying solo fun, Star Wars--Rogue Squadron 3-D may be exactly what you seek. --Alyx Dellamonica

BUY IT !
Flight sim games have been around, it seems, forever. But this game takes it to a new level. If you are a Starwars fan then all the craft feel like old friend and if your not a Starwars Fan, buy it for the amazing graphics and speed. The game can be improved buy finding secret code words on the internet that give you options to fly the infamous Millenium Falcon amongst others. The guys at lucasarts will have to try hard to better this game.

the force is strong with this one
I got this game on PC as I didn't have any games consoles at the time (which was a long time ago) and I thought it would be nothing compared to the sequels on Gamecube (which I also own). I could'nt have been more wrong! Sure the lasers and missiles may seem a little off but the scenery is to die for.

You can choose never before seen V-Wing exclusive to this game (the B-Wing is exclusive to Rogue Leader and AT-AT's,AT-ST's + on-foot missions are exclusive to Rebel Strike as well as the B-Wing). Of course there's the more famous types which include:

X-Wing,
A-Wing,
Y-Wing,
Snowspeeder

as well as the two bonus craft (Millenium Falcon and TIE Interceptor- You may need to cheat for these)and the Naboo Starfighter is downloadable from the website.

The only problem is that you will need an up to date computer, graphics card and driver to use this as you may have problems with gameplay otherwise. For those without this problem then get this game and a joystick (trust me it makes it a LOT easier providing you find out the controls as these will vary) and you will be blowing up the Death Star in no time!

(Seriously as this is 1 of the 3 end bonus missions that I've completed).

This is the game and thats the bottom line cause Luke Skywalker said so!
v-wings, y-wings, x-wings and quite a few other ships to fly as well including the Naboo Starfighter from episode 1 the phantom menace, and with around 13 levels and about 15 save files,the pc version well ascends N64 version .Fly as luke,play as an atst, blow up the death star, race on tatooine or replay the battle of Hoth from episode 5 the empire strikes back!A definite 5 & a buy! Don't miss out on this great game!OUT.....Now!
