West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band Part 15
Released in 1967, Part 1 is a fantastic mix of West Coast harmonies and weirdness. Anyone who loves inventive '60's music will be thrilled with this CD. High points include "Help I'm a Rock", sounding even better than when The Mothers of Invention did it, and "Transparent Day" which conveys a wonderful atmosphere of idyllic psych. pop. If you love the whole 60's thing, go for Part 1 and THEN get Part 2!

This CD is consistency good, there are some wonderful songs, the sparsely constructed opening track " Shifting Sands" is quite haunting, and the percussive beating heart sound of " I Won't Hurt You", like the first song has an earnest feel to it.The post Apocalyptic song " Will You Walk with Me" is reminiscent of Love and " Help, I'm a Rock" is a genuine contender to the Mother's orginal and the intriguing lyrics of "1906" are suitably weird, living up to the Pop Art title of the group. "Transparent Day" is pop orientated and breezy. The anthemic "Here's Where you Belong" is like a statement of intent , that only asks for you to buy their follow up CD's, yes music can be that engaging and linear. So enjoy
