Amazon.co.uk Review
In Sub Command take charge of the most deadly modern-day submarines in the world as you command three distinct submarines across two unique and challenging campaigns. Utilise cutting-edge technology to navigate the world's oceans to locate, track, and destroy enemy convoys. Or, park your sub off hostile shores to deliver Tomahawk missiles to inland targets. Whether diving, scouring, or surfacing, you control the smartest, stealthiest, and most feared subs in the water today.
From the makers of 688(I): Hunter/Killer, Sub Command is one of the most realistic submarine simulation ever. Take control of the most technologically advanced submarines in the world, the Seawolf, the 688(I), and the Akula; each sub contains authentic Naval systems such as Sonar, Radar and Target Motion Analysis. Test your skills in missions straight from headlines as you fire Tomahawk missiles at enemy structures, rescue crippled subs, rise through the polar caps to communicate vital information, and much more.
Multi-player extends the action with the option to play cooperatively or head-to-head over the Internet on EA.COM's match making system for endless hours of submarine warfare. A new, easy-to-use game interface, controlling a submarine has never been easier for the advanced or casual gamer. With enhanced sound and 3-D graphics engine, experience more than 250 3-D objects, from Russian trawlers to France's Mirage fighters, and exacting sound modes pull you into a realistic battle experience like no other. You won't just hear depth charges, you will feel them.

If you like 688 you will love sub command.....
I have given sub command 4 stars because unlike 688 there is no detailed paper manual, there is however a manual on one of the CD-ROMs.
Having said that the game itself is a great improvement over 688, the graphics, sound and AI have all been greatly improved and the fact that you can choose from three subs adds another dimension.
In fact in every area there is improvement.
It will take a few hours to get use to the controls and options, but once you have played a few missions you should be ready for the campain, which seems to have more depth than 688.
If you enjoyed 688 you will want to get this worthy successor.
A Simulation Game with a difference!!!
This is a simulation game with a difference. There is an excellent range of activities to keep anyone amused. The grapics are excellent but the boys and girls at Electronic Arts could have done better.
The game controls are quite complicated but you get used to them after a bit, there is not to many buttons to be pushed to play the game.
This is mainly a stratergy game where a lot of thought and brain power is needed, especially when avoiding enermy subs.
Overall it is a good game and alot of fun to be played with.
modern sub warfare
great at putting you in the control room of a modern nuclear attack sub
the ai can control the crew so you are only the captain and not in control of every position
there is a facility to see underwater, but it is more realistic to play from the map and the controls
good selection of missions
the sensors/weapons/systems seem realistic
