CD Description
After Mr Hermano's 1999 debut long player 'O Globo' they returned from there hiatus to deliver on of the most forward thinking albums of the year. With the amazing feedback from the title track Santana classic single 'Free As The Morning Sun' follows the long player of the same name and impact. The brainchild of Producer/Musician and Engineer Ben Mitchell whose recent guises have been Sao Benitez (remixing the MAW production River Ocean classic Love and Happiness into a Ibiza anthem), Jimmy Smith (forthcoming Dot Com blues remix) and production of the seminal Hypnotic anthem "Naima" with the Fleming brothers at the tip of the roll of honours. Chris Fleming is at hub of the west London revolution with his "Laws Of Motion" label spawning the local talent to a international level with Modaji, early Bugz In The Attic material, Neon Phusion, Back To Earth and The Truth.

Refreshing classical latin grooves3
Having debated on whether I should or shouldn't get this CD over the past 3 months I finally took the plunge and I can honestly say that I have not been disappointed. It starts of in a very upbeat mood with the title tracks Free as the morning sound which throws you back to an 80's groove with a warm latin tinged flavour and harmonies. Everything on this album is played with traditional instruments, no programming which surprised me initially but then I just relaxed and listended and enjoyed. This is certainly something that would occupy your time on a warm summer night. The highlights for me being Capoeira Love affair, Jugando con Fuego part 2 Com Um Sol and Hypnotista which although takes a bit of time to get going is a smooth tune with just enough to get you tapping your feet and humming along to the background vocals.

Summer vibes.......3
Very accomplished musicianship from a band who apparently wanted to be called "Mi Hermano" (My Brother) but someone made a typo when sending a fax to the record company! Bought this on the strength of the title track and "Leave Me On A High" which was featured on one of the Hed Kandi compilations, and in my view those two are far and away the best songs featured here.

"Free..." is an old Santana track from one of Carlos's solo efforts. Not quite as uplifting as the original and Armando Perazza's fantastic conga playing is noticeably absent, but there's still a lovely feel about it. "Leave Me.." is almost anthemic and gets you singing along to a very catchy melody.

As for the rest - well, mainly latin based summery vibes that wash over you. Great for warm summer evenings or on holiday. Nothing is offensive here, but not a lot to grab you either. Recommended at this price.
