Amazon.co.uk Review
Kaos is a blockbuster of an album. Big in every sense it stomps through your speakers like an untamed rap Godzilla let loose from its cage. Starting with Redman's magnificent "Smash Sumthin" and going into M.O.P's "Stand Clear" it's never less than a surround sound show of power hip-hop ripping up everything in its vicinity. Bizarrely it's all been produced by Adam F, a UK drum and bass artist and son of 70s Glam rocker Alvin Stardust. It's the biggest breakthrough for a UK producer since Soul II Soul's Nelle Hooper went to work for Madonna. Adam F has arranged a fantastic array of top-line names and given them hip-hop of the most dramatic, barnstorming nature. Legend has it his slowed down drum and bass beats were heard by LL Cool J who asked him to work on his last album, G.O.A.T. Adam F produced the title track (which he's snagged for this album) and suddenly the doors to the US rap industry were wide open. Employing grand orchestration, ten-ton brass sections and the chunkiest of funk he captures the bombastic side of American hip-hop in a way that even few US producers manage. This is not an original album in the way, say, Mos Def's Black On Both Sides is, but an extremely well-done slice of mainstream hip-hop. No doubt there'll be a sequel. --Jake Barnes

Refreshing and Confident
I got this album after my friend recommended it to me. I put it in my car sound system and was won over immediately. The intro to smash sumthin is way over the top but this is its appeal - very dramatic orchestral music. smash sumthin itself is one of the best tracks i have ever heard. The storyline of the album is comically terminatorish - but again just adds to the confident vibe of the album. What makes this album so different to many others (eg: Redman Malpractice) is the consistency. It doesn't wane and you won't find yourself continually skipping tracks. In fact Last Dayz (the last song) is probably one of the best - certainly lyrically speaking. I hope we will see a sequel - I will grab it as soon as it's released. Last time I saw Adam F he did a drum n bass set so i hope he hasn't forgotten about his hip hop talent (NB: amazing D&B too!)One thing I would advise is having a really good sound system to play it on (my car's one cost twice as much as the car and takes up all the boot space!) - a really loud system will add to the atmosphere the track gives. Plus if you have a big sub it is so fun watching people stare as your car shakes!! In conclusion I would say that if you don't own this album then you are missing out. Get that money you were going to buy your girl/boy friend a Xmas present with and buy this instead!!! And Dr. Dre - watch out. This album kicks Dre 2001.
Commercial hip hop
From the moment the intro kicks in you feel something big is gonna happen, prepare to be let down. The dark trend of drum and bass is present in a lot of the tunes, except one Destinys Child replica, which lets down the whole album, but its mostly just over commercial, 'poppy' hip hop that yougsters might like. Buy it if you've got some spare cash.
Its OK.
I cant help but feel disappointed in this album, and I cant believe the rave reviews some other guys are giving this, but maybe it is exactly what does it for em, if so cool, but there is another side. I like all kindsa quality music (rap, hip hop, metal, funk, soul, drum n bass, classical, breaks, trip hop....). Its let down by some weak tunez (one should definately be on an RnB album not on KAOS), which ruin an otherwise nicely powerful, dark album, which is so helped by the operatic linkz. A couple of tunez concentrate far too much on self glorification for the rapper rather than the music n lyrics, which is always disappointing. Hmmm.
