Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
The long-awaited sequel to the Dreamcast's greatest sporting game arrives, and Virtua Tennis 2 is set to leave few disappointed. Much of what made the first game such a success is still intact--the simple controls, the variety of moves you can pull off and the challenging World Tour mode are all present and correct. The latter though has been severely toughened, adding a calendar element and the need to get both a male and female player to the top of their game, through tournaments and an extraordinary selection of imaginative skill challenges.

The game itself feels a little slower and a bit more tactical than the original, and it does take a little getting used to. There's slightly less hand-holding this time, and it's up to you to work out what you need to do, and crucially, to get your timing spot on if you want to be playing the right shots. As you progress through the World Tour, you can build up the skills of your player, though, ready for the challenges of the increasingly tricky computer opposition.

All this goes to make Virtua Tennis 2 enormous fun, achieving the rare balance of offering a substantial challenge to fans of the original while keeping the proceedings accessible and fun for the novice. The best tennis game ever, and one of the best sports games on any format. Who said the Dreamcast was dead? --Simon Brew

Bigger and better its virtua tennis 25
This time around its has female players along with the usual men some still remain from the last outing. With more modes and a bigger career mode it looks like a more accomplished game The moves are also better with a more improved diving and better shot angles. If you played the first you will remember how slow you recovered from a dive shot.Well theyve also made that faster so you wont get up and see the ball whizz past and your player. You have to buy this game its the closest youll get to a tennis court in this weather.

Better than the Original5
If you haven't played the original, then, shame on you. Virtua Tennis 2 is the sequal to the former best tennis game in the world, this game now taking that crown.
The game of tennis does not need to be explained to, but if youve never played videogames or tennis before, this game is simple enough to get you started. With easy, fluid controls, even my dad has been able to play this sports title fairly easily, and its thanks to Sega creating only 2 buttons to allow your player to hit the ball. This may sound simple, and it is, but the more you play, the controls allow you to improve, and the game carries much depth with it, so you can with skillful buttons presses, have more than 2 shots in your arsenal.
With amazing graphics that equal that of the playstation2, you wont get bored of looking at this. In fact, you wont get bored looking at it at all, with the new inclusion of female players, now allowing for mixed doubles tennis matches.
If that wasnt enough for you, the world tour path of the game allows you to create and train your own player, turning him into the king of tennis with fun and entertaining mini-games that are much more difficult than they first seem.
This game is also much faster than its predecessor, and shot types have been improved, for exmaple, a diving shot will see you get up much quicker in this game than in the first installment.
Basically, if you don't already own this game, you should, and if you own the original, trade it in. I kept both, but, thats me.

WOW!5
Super Tennis! One of the Dreamcast's last hurrahs. It's rare that a follow up version of a great game is still worth buying, but here there is such a case. Everything has improved - from technical features to matters of gameplay. There are not only male players, but female stars as well. Or create your own superstar. Many gimmicks are to be found. The gameplay is almost perfect. Not only a great DC game, but also the best tennis game there is on a console.
